I'm selling my tricked out DS650 to get a Speed. Am I going to be happy with the power and handling? Anything scarey that I need to know about these bikes, like reliability? Thanks for any help.

I will be honest with you your DS is or should be faster.This past weekend my brother and I were trail riding he has a ds with Ron woods carb and a procircuit pipe mine was faster on low end his beat me when we were tapped out in 5th on the abandened railroadbeds.When he got stuck in the mud it was a two man job to get it out.His gas mileage was bad I used 1/2 tank he would use a full tank.

Thanks for the info, this is a tough decision for me. What model do you have, and is it stock. Does the cannondale ride better? thanks

Just keep in mind the DS650 is over 100 pounds heavier, (source - DW's July 2001 shootout, page 46). That's alot of weight!! The Cannibal has a far better power to weight ratio:
Cannondale Cannibal -------------> 38srwhp / 375lbs = 0.1013 horsepower per pound

Bombardier DS650 ----------------> 42srwhp / 465lbs = 0.0903 horsepower per pound

The ride is more controlable on the cannondale I guess since you bought works for your DS you werent happy with the huge amount of body roll it has when cornering hard.Yes the DS is plusher than the dale but the dale will out handle the DS.WE rode about 10hrs fri and sat and I was ready for more.If you want to do any type of racing the dale is the way to go.I have

a big gun pipe,axle,higher gearing.
and since you own a Harley I know the made in the U.S.A is important.cannondale owners stick together and help each other out and so does the factory.
