here is the story first trany oil change striped bolt got bolt out change oil put stiped bolt back in. ordered new bolt changed oil again when i pulled the filter out it was bent and mangled. looked inside the hole as best possible damn frame is in the way. but I saw the hole the the filter goes into it has a medal ring that holds the filter in the hole where the oil flows into the filter. the medal ring was bent and it's not round anymore. i'm going to take to dealer but I'm going to find out when the cannondale rep will be there. do you think I should wait till he comes or just drop it in hopeing that they will be kewl. and do it under warr. not that I don't Love my cdale but what where they thinking when they came up this idea of how to place the filter. wells after i kind of straighted the filter out and put it back in not knowing if it is in right I tightened the new bolt not but 10inlbs when i tried to take it off again I STRIPED THE BOLT again. I'M A MECH. this is just crappy construction materials.

I don't like having to work the wrench on that trans oil drain bolt or the engine drain bolt, the engine drain bolt assembly is more of a pain getting back in if you ask me. I have done about 10 oil changes on my Speed and have not come close to stripping out the bolts or lining up the filter. I know you have to be patient and careful, not sure I agree that Cannondale used crappy materials as you put it........JIM

Well I know how you feel about the tranny bolt. I stripped mine a couple of weeks ago and I didn't have my new bolt yet. So, I put the stripped one back in, let me say big mistake. Now I cant get the bolt out tried vice grips didn't work, Im now going to try cutting a screw drive slit in it or try a back out bit. What do you guys think I should do.

drill a hole and tap it out. easiest and fastest way to do it.
