If I buy a used quad from a dealership do I have to register it somewhere or is the sale receipt all I need? Does the dealerships not receive the title when the atv is traded in? Just wondering, I don't know of anyone who has received a title with theirs.

It probably depends on your state's laws, here in Oklahoma there is no registration for dirt bikes or quads.

Rebel,

Alabama, like Mississippi DOES require that all ATVs be titled and registered with the state. This applies to both used and new ATVs.

If you were to say..buy an ATV from Mississippi in cash to avoid the Alabama state sales tax....you would only be avoiding it temporarily.

Lets say you made the drive and bought an ATV from us........
We have to send the paperwork to your home state so that the title would be registered in your home state rather than ours. THEN....when you get the registration papers back from the state of Alabama, you will also get a bill requesting you to pay a certain ammount of sales tax. The tax ammount is based on the retail value of the quad rather than what you actually paid for it.

I have seen some instances where the customer in another state never received such a bill for taxes.....but they also never got the proper registration back from their state either.
