Paddles are over-rated. Only when drag racing or hillshooting do they make a difference worth talking about. I don't run them. Both quads are good, but I need a race quad and there is only one choice. A piped Raptor has no edge on a Dale. The Moto mapping revs like a 250r and has as much lowend grunt of a Raptor. Smittys Dale was the first Dale I rode. It had Sand Skate II's which was completely wrong for any fourstroke. I was somewhat impressed w/ the Dale, but knew the tires were holding the hidden potential of the machine back. They need to rev and not feel like your dragging an anchor behind you when you let off the gas. If it feels like that your all wrong on paddle tires. Extreme's are to much even for the Dale up Sand Mtn. To much bite. My Dale pulls one gear higher then my Raptor up Sand Mtn and that's a HUGE difference on this hill....

<< the piped and mapped dale is faster than the raptor. the 03's have fox shocks and steel wheels. >>

Cannibals have alum. wheels for 03! Fox shock on the rear and Arvin shocks on the front.

<<
1. how much are the 03 sexy black cannibals going for otd. if its around 6k ill probly go with that Just a little over $6k depending on the dealer.

1 1/2 lol. does cannodale offer factory financing now and what are the rates. Cannondale does not but they offer it through an outside company.

2. what pipe do you reccomend... is there one for the 03 yet would like to get a slip on if the power is not worth the extra money of the full system. HMF!

3. how is the suspension on the 03 canninbal? is it better than my Z. The fronts are about the same as on the LT but the rear seems to work a little better on the Dale.

4. what map do you reccomend for the dunes? Glamis or Moto.

5. is it a better choice for the dunes than the raptor ( the raptor should have more torque shouldnt it? ). I think so!

6. should i go used? on a 02, but they did fix a few issues on the 03 and i love the black A used 02 will be fine as long as all the updates have been done and the owner has taken care of it.

7. i know there is the glamis but can you get it with straight paddles? I'm not sure which paddles its going to come with.

thanks guys would love to hear from raptor and c-dale owners

I was at the Cannondale dealer training class this weekend and they said they are not going to use the steel wheels after all. They said steel rims would cost them the same as the alum. wheels!

<< i heard a rumor and we know how rumors are that the raptor may be discontinued after 03. this came from a local dealer here. >>

i think that we should all know better than to listen to the dealerships. too many of the employees are just salesman looking at getting you out the door with their quad. Not enough of the guys are really into the sport and will give you unbiased and truthfull info about their competition.

Hey Moose, do you go to Little Sahara in Oklahoma often? I hear first time duners should ride with someone that knows the area somewhat and since I'm planning on going sometime when I get my shock and axle, I was wondering if we could meet up some time over there. I'll try not to slow you down to much .

<< No big deal. Your right they are both great quads. Riding style will have to be learned on which ever one you ride, so we calling this a draw? LOL >>

That's cool with me.

<< Mines still faster. LOL >>

You know I always wondered about the air filter being in front on the C'Dales & what the effects would be.
Apparently it removes too much oxygen from the rider, I think you've had too much oxygen deprevation cause your halucinating!! LMAO!!

Yea I go when I can, I'm not sure when my next trip is gonna be though.
It's a real good idea to have a riding partner that knows the dunes, It's not that it's so big that you can get lost, you can always find your way out.
The biggest thing is the dunes can change sooo much with just a couple hours of wind. They can go from nice easy sloping dunes with rounded tops to steep drop offs with serious peaks. It can be very dangerous.

I always do a recon run the first trip of the day. when it's dry the sand can be like talcum powder & deep soft. You don't want to go flying up a soft face to find a 75 degree drop on the other side 75 ft down.

They haul a lot of people to the hospital & there have been fatalities.
Common sense, good riding gear & trying to hold off sand feaver till you scouted the dunes = a fun & safe trip.

Have you ever thought about trying the sand drags at Atoka?

Dunerunner,

Did you get enough information about the differances to make a decision of which quad to get?

As the decideding factor is below.

Good luck with whichever you choose.

Smitty

Get the Cannondale cause a pound of alum weighs less than a pound of steel. LOL
