Recently I have been in the market for a new quad. Since I sold the old 250r, very sad day.

I am looking into a Cannondale, Gas Gas, or some sort of crf450/yzf426 job. Cannondale has recently peaked my interest, with the way most people talk about them, on this sight.

The major question I have is why do the Blaze and Moto have the most HP? I thought they were all the same engine. I am hoping to get the Cannible or Speed, because I would like to add all of the goodies myself. Why do the two top end quads have the most power, and if I get one of the lower models what can I do to make it on par.

I am in Canada so Im buying against the american dollar, so any inital advantage in price would help. But I want the programable engine mapping. Then later change out the suspension and front end. Followed by the extensive motor work. Anyone out there with experience, and who sort of knows where im coming from could you PLEASE HELP ME!!!
thanks

Its the mapping and gearing that is different. You can get a Cannibal or Speed and get the same mapping as the Moto or Blaze and it will have the same hp numbers then.

Dose the mapping have to come from factory or can it be added later there is something about reprograming the enging map. Is it a tool you get from the dealer, or factory. The speed has the adjust on the fly setup, can the cannible get, I just like the plastic more.

This is just stuff i need to know, because the base unit is $10,600.00, the speed is $11,500.00, blaze$15,???.00, moto20,???.00.
So that leaves me a lot of room to play with, as far as money I can dump into it in the future.

I also heard about the 450 for next year is it just a big bore kit or a complete top end?
Just more questions.

The mapping and exhaust are the only differences between the different Cannondale models. I ran one of these in 2001 when the FX first came out. I loved the power, but it didn't handle as well as I would have liked it to. I am currently quadless and I am right in the middle of the racing season, so I am racing my friend's 400EX for the rest of the year.

the hp difference is from exhuast and FI mapping

Cannibal $7000
Speed $8000
Glamis $8???
Blaze $10,500
Moto $12,500

and as you can see from the Cannondale site there are a lot of other extras thrown in each time you step up in price. I have also heard you can run other maps on the Cannibal and Speed but you'll burn out the packing in the exhuast much quicker since it wasn't designed for that much flow.

One of my boys has been interested in going to the Cannondales for a while now and I have refused to give in so far because of their reliability and obvious overpricing. It may have fuel injection, but isn't anything that is needed and is the cause for most of their problems.

I am most likely building a CRF450 quad for my son and I have already gone over many different configurations and can build one MX ready for under $10,000, so forget the Cannondale. My project includes a new chassis and new engine.

If you want these plans just PM me along with your fax number and I will be happy to send them along.

By the way fellow Cannondale members here....I was not blasting your precious egos, so just leave the flaming elsewhere. I stated nothing but fact....so don't even start.

Captain

I'm not trying to flame or anything I'm just asking you out right. What problems are caused by the fuel injection? I think it's like any high performance quad it takes more to keep it up. I don't really think the base model is over priced at 7k. It'll out run a stock raptor or ds and handles better and is lighter than both and the msrp on those bikes is only around 500 dollars less. There has been recalls but Cannondale has been taking care of their customers and a majority of them have been upgrades to the steering, gas tank etc not a lot of engine problems. SparkyEX has had his for a year with no engine problems and it still pulls like an animal.

Capt Carl, Why do you come on the c-dale forum? Is it just to bash our quads? There is no other stock machine that can hang with a stock c-dale and that is a fact. Nobody likes you here so just leave us alone. Go ahead and build your crf 450 quad and then bring it up here and you will be eating rocks all the way up the mountain. You talk an awful lot of junk for none of the guys from your area to have heard of you. I have seen you say you are going to a race and then the guys come on here and say you dont show up. If your team to beat ever shows up for a race you will see why your boy wants a cannondale!
