First Ride on Blaze
#1
The first ride in the woods was great until she wouldn't start. The power and handling are geared perfectly towards the woods, unlike the Raptor. I did have some problems though. I got seperated a few times from my buddies and I stopped and turned her off to listen for the other quads. I turned the key back on and went to start it and it almost wouldn't turn over, like a dead battery. So I waited a few minutes and then it turned over a little better but still no hint of the engine firing, and the battery seemed to be almost out of juice. I also thought that the gas might be low and causing some of the problems. So I walked the 1/2 mile back to the truck to get a tow strap. We headed back out to the quad and just for the hell of it I tried to start it again. It turned over better and started to sound like it wanted to fire and then finally did fire. So I drove it back to the trucks and every thing was fine. I let it sit for a couple of minutes and tried to start it again to load it, but all it would do was turn over. I am going to charge the battery tonight, but why would the batter already be going down? Why would it turn over hard when it was hot? Anybody else ever have this happen?

If they sit for a while and are not ran the batteries tend to go down. I have heard a lot of guys on here say that they leave a trickle charger on their quad if it is going to sit for a while. But if you had ran it for a while and then it did not have enough juice to turn it over I would ask my dealer to replace it.

One thing I had to learn is not hold the start button in like my buddies 400ex or raptor this thing seams real finiky with that. I flooded the engine a few times before I learned that. Just hit the starter for a few sec at a time DON'T try to hold it in until it starts. This may or may not be your problem but it might help.

I finally got a chance to get the Blaze on a charger. I did measure the voltage at the battery before charging and it was 11.5V. I would have though that would have been enough to start, but evidently not. Surely others have had this same problem?

I had a similar problem when I first brought mine home. The battery was low and I was not following proper starting procedure and fouled the plug. Once I got it charged I have not had a problem with it since, even when it sits for 3-4 weeks it always starts fine. I have never had to run a trickle charger on it.
It may have just been a little low from the dealer and now your problem is solved.
