OK folks, I've been lurking here for a couple weeks, and decided last week that I am going to put a deposit on the '03 Cannibal LE that is on my local dealer's showroom floor as soon as the refinancing on my house goes through. What really intrigues me is all of the changes that have apparantly been made to the Cannibal throughout the build year. What I am aware of so far is:

- Rear shock started as Ohlins, went to Fox
- Front shock started as Ohlins, went to Arvin?
- Was the computer changed from a 500 to a 1000?
- I heard that the tires are changing from the Holeshot to a Carlisle.

The bike I'm looking to get has a fairly low VIN - last 3 are 221. What I'm trying to figure out, and I'm sure you guys can help narrow it down, is when were the changes made? I'll get started.

VIN 221
- Ohlins rear shock
- Arvin front shocks
- Computer ???
- ITP Holeshot tires

If anyone is interested, we should be able to narrow down exactly when during the build the changes took place if everyone with a Cannibal posts what their's came with along with the VIN.

BTW, I was quoted 6800 plus tax for this bike. That includes the setup fees and stuff. Does that sound like a decent deal? Keep in mind that I live in California, where everything is overpriced.

Thanks,
Marc

you got a fox rear shock, arvins on the front, holeshots and a 1000 computer, but dont forget you also have a hydraulic clutch, and you engine will have all the updates ie. stronger flyweel, different piston rings and a few other modifications that will make your ride very reliable. You also will have all the new fuel line routing and new gas tank and new swingarm. ITs got all the goodies. you will love it

First off it has the 1000 computer. The 500 were fx400 (01) model and early 02 cannibal models.
Second off that is a high number for the LE model considering the orginal plan was to only make 200 of them.
I have heard rumors of the tire change and rims to steel on Carlisle, but no definite on this.
Out the Door for $6800 sounds good for a 03 model I have heard of people saying you should be able to get one for $6500 OTD, but don't know what area they were talking about.

Goodluck with the machine and welcome to the Cannondale Club.

Hey trout...

I am certain that this bike has an Ohlins rear shock. Saw it with my own eyes! The fronts I wasn't 100% sure on. I couldn't really read the stampings in the low light. They have orange springs and a black body, and the salesman who was looking at the other side said Arvins.

I can't wait to get this thing to Pismo!

All the LE's should have Arvin's. You said black body- definitely Arvins. There in lies a potential problem. Check the model number on the body to see if those are part of the recall. My guess is that they are. Can't hardly buy a quad with shocks that are on recall now can you?! You have to have shocks- work on getting the Ohlin's.

As far as price, I'd guess your in the ball park. A couple dollars high, but you really can't get that much off a current year model ATV- any brand. There isn't that much of a markup at the dealer. A few hundred dollars is about all the wiggle room you'd probably get out of a dealer. Those LE's are sweet looking. Hope it works out for you.

I would work for 6800 or less out the door, with helmet and fluids(oil & tranny). It can be done.
You will love the bike...

i think all the le's have the ohlin rear and holeshot tires. i know a dealer that had five and they all did. oh so that 2 per dealer number is not right because he started with 5. too bad you were'nt closer to me, he has 2 left at $ 6000 out the door.
