Cannondale in trouble? $$$$$$
#31
The company my wife works for and that I used to work for have filed bankrupcy twice. Once to avoid a hostile take over and once to keep from running out of money. Whether or not Cannondale claims bankrupcy doesn't meen they are going out of business. It just means they are coming up with a plan that the court will agree to so they can pay off their creditors and no one gets screwed. I thought chapter 11 was that kind of bankrupcy and chapter 13 was when you screwed everyone you owe money to. I'm not sure my financial and legal knowledge is extremely limited. Regardless of whether they file or not it doesn't meen they are going away.

Grrr would everyone stop hateing on c-dale and why does everyone keep saying C-dale is going bankrupt. It's not the entire company it will be the motorsports division and not the bike division. Also u have to give c-dale mad props for even haveing the ***** to jump into the market with the most high tech quad ever.C-dale should go down as the company that did more in such a short time then what the bigger companies have done in there long **** period of time that they have been around.

I'll quote the article that DSRide posted... "The motorsports division is at the heart of the company's problems. Last year, the bicycle division generated more than $134 million in sales, compared to $22 million from motorcycles and ATVs. Yet every motorcycle and ATV sold in 2002 was sold at a loss, according to Cannondale's annual report."
That last sentence right there is the problem... manufacturing and labor costs are probably killing any possiblity of profiting from sales.
Basically Cannondale needs to gut their manufacturing process, because everything else seems to be working-- they're selling quads, all their machines are performing best in their class, best warranty response in the industry, all thats left is manufacturing. C'dale needs to look at how the Japanese build their quads to get some idea of how to streamline and cut costs.
I hope that they can do it...
