hope it's easy

Well after calling around Florida for a good cannondale tech he adviced me that he won't be able to do any work on the bike until March 18th. I was wanting to get the stud update kit (which I bought from quadsource) installed. So my question is, is it something I can do? I'm not Mr. Mechanic, the only thing I work on is Motorola radios and Nextel phones (my job). I just didn't know if anyone with average mechanic skills has tried to do this themself. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I've been wondering the same thing myself. Apparently you have to drop the motor completely out of the chassis to get to all the bolts. I change out the motor in my son's R all the time but this beast is a different story!!

I'm in the middle of doing mine now. The motor has to come out. I think that and putting it back in are the hardest things to do. Besides a couple special tools, it's no biggie, but we have always work on our own stuff. (excavation contractor) Just smaller tools now lol. I have never been inside a quad motor before, but doing the stud up-date doesn't seem that hard. Remove old screws one at a time, clean holes, lock-tight and a torque wrench.

Also I read somewhere on one of these forums where a guys was making aluminum heal plates. I was wanting to find something like that where I could bolt up my back fender to my GP propegs. Has anybody seen this also or am I just going crazy!! thanks for any help.

Maybe these are the heelguards you saw. They'd be better with a fender support added.

Pics of my valve cover. As I am concerned It can't be looked at without pulling the motor. Maybe if you lower the motor.
