Default Buying a Cannondale

Im thinking of buying a used cannondale, would it be dumb to buy it because they are selling, would it just descrease in price, are they still going to make aftermarket parts, and what would a good price be for a 2002 moto with handlebar GP control and only 4 hours on it? Thank you and please share your thoughts

It all depends on how you want to spend your money. Don't listen to these other guys, they are just jealous because they don't have one. (I know here come the flames)

I have one, and after having ridden my friends Raptor, there is no way that I would own anything else. I love the smooth power delivery, the cutting edge technology and the exclusivity that comes with owning one.

Now, having said that, the machines are not perfect. And yes it's true Cannondale's motorsports future is in serious doubt. But remember too, that the Suzuki LT-500 was only made for a short period of time, and the last 250R rolled off the assembly line 13 years ago, and they are still going strong.

Once I get mine put all back together, I would be willing to let you ride mine if you would like. I know that there is another fellow in Hanford that owns one also, and he might be willing to let you take a look at his also.

There are still rumors, both before and after the auction, of behind the scenes deals to get motor sports up and running, some even include the Montgomerys as part owners of the new venture.

The new owners, Pegasus, said they will liquidate motor sports and exactly what does that mean? It could mean the assets are sold off to a new company who will take it and run with it. It is in Pegasus best interest to sell the motor sports assets as a business and not as old or distressed inventory. Cannondale will be required, by law, to service the motor sports division and that could be another incentive, since Cannondale wants to be bikes only, to sell the assets to a new concern.

Even with all the uncertainty concerning Cannondale there are new parts coming to market. I'm still riding and looking forward to a new 5th gear, soon to become available, that reduces the big RPM drop between 4th and 5th. Keep the faith, it ain't over till it's over and it ain't over yet!

Im not saying the Cannondale is a bad quad, in fact I was very interested in getting one, before they went bankrupt. Its not a good idea to put money into a compoany that is bankrupt. If you are telling him to buy a machine that he may not be able to get fixed in the future, you are doing a great dis-service to him.

Just to let you know, the 500 was produced for 4 years, in much greater numbers than the cannondales. same with Honda.

If I were the buyer, Id get something else for now. If things turn around, you can always buy again..

Why anybody would consider buying a quad with many known problems and a company that just went bankrupt is beyond be. The thing about the 250R and 500 Quadracer is that Honda and Suzuki are still in business and you can still get parts. Plus they did sell well over 5000 of each model.

Anyone who is into old machines knows how difficult it is to keep them going and that is when the parts are available. Even the big four discontinue making parts for old models after a certain period of time. With a dale you'rescrewed. My prediction is somebody will come out with an engine swap kit for C-dale owners to repower their quads.
