Noise Level Article
It may be slightly dated and concerns motorcycles but the principle and facts are still relevant today.

Great article!
As far as I am concerned..........we need to leave the people who can't comprehend what this article points out in the same dust cloud as those who can't comprehend helmet use and doubling up.
The only way this sport will survive is when the people in it start "taking out the garbage" along the lines of common sense.

I too thought it was a great article. Really brings up the question of "Is louder really faster and/or more powerful?"
I believe that it is possible to be environmentally responsible while enjoying our sport.
Hopefully these aftermarket companies will work on making exhaust systems that give honest improvements in power but are at the same time quit. How about a silencer that equals the stock silencer in power, but is quieter than stock?

I disagree with the noise restrictions when it comes to riding out in the desert. There isn't anybody out there except fellow riders and part of the experience for me is to let my four stroke rip. I agree with sound restrictions when riding areas are within a few miles of residential areas. But too me this noise restriction is just another way for the government to make money and harass the general public. I agree that louder doesn't make more ponies but it sure is fun to be able to do something that you can't do everyday. I mean there's sound restrictions for cars and such which I agree with but to limit the sound when you are out in the boonies is a bunch of crap. If you think this is a FREE country then guess again!
