Default Ohio

I just bought my ATV in september and the dealer mentioned something about that. I use mine on the farm only and will never (probably) take it anywhere else. So I registered mine as a farm vehicle and did not pay any sales tax - but I have been warned that if I take it to any state or fed owned land (including the third lane on most of our country roads around here) and get caught that I would have to pay the state taxes and a stiff fine. I think all gov. owned land such as state and fed. parks and forests will require a sticker to be visible on the ATV later this year.

I also heard a rumor that the state of Ohio is considering closing most of the ORV trails or charging something like $100.00/yr. for a use tax. They are saying that the ATV'rs are abusing their privilege and tearing up the land and leaving litter on the trails. Of course this is only rumor but there may be some truth behind it.

We gotta come up with something we can do to protect the use of our land for ATV use. I think just about every state in the nation is considering some kind of heavy restrictions on ATV use.
