New York riders

There is a bill on the table right now to allow ATVs the same rights as Snowmobiles. Not only is the bill planning to open several riding areas but they are going to allow ATVs access to roads for crossing from trail-to-trail and things like that.
I don't have all the details yet, but supoposedly they are going to let us use the Sled trails in the summer too.
Keep alert for any updates as the news and radio is going to cover it in some form.

You can already ride your quad on snowmobile trails in NY, IF THE LANDOWNER ALLOWS IT. That is the problem. Most landowners that allow a sled trail across their land prohibit atv's from using it. Too many ppl shred the land guys. Too few ppl "tread lightly" if they think that no one is watching them. I have sled trails that go right by my house, and right thru my inlaws back yard. All the neighbors know that I will be responsible with thier land, but it doesn't matter, the damage was done by atv's long before I came along to ask if I could ride the sled trail. Follow a sled trail sometime, and start counting the sign's that say NO ATV's OR MOTORCYCLES and you'll see what I mean. It's not a bad idea, it's just that the landowner has the say whether or not you can cross thier land. Sleds dont dig ditches and mudpits guys, quads in the hands of unresponsible ppl do.
