Logging road irony
QUOTE by KINGSCLEAR: I truely feel sorry for my American friends who like to ride from what I understand it is getting harder and harder to find spots. We areso luckey up here where I live except for the occasional private land owner or a park or plantation we are not prohibited from riding where ever we wish, What a county!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for another barb at the US. FYI, in much of the US ATV's are ridden with few restrictions. I've ridden into town and parked in front of my bank, then rode down the street to a restaurant. All legal.

It seems to me that generalities are a poor way to address specifics..........I am sure Kingsclear is factual about his specific part of his country, I am likewise sure DeeDawg is stating the truth. In Eastern Oregon if you attempt such activities as DeeDawg describes you will receive a citation and in certain circumstances your ATV will be confiscated. Pilot Rock Oregon is the only town I am personally aware of that allows ATV use. One of the most common signs in the Public Land in Umatilla, Union, Baker, and Wallowa counties is the picture of an ATV with the red slash through it. Even on the few public roads in National forests where ATV use is permitted any travel over 300 feet from that road is prohibited. Time for specifics I believe, the Forest Supervisors of the Wallowa Whitman and Umatilla National forest have as a goal for their districts to eliminate the travel of ATV's.........Not so pretty............Tass

I don't think anyone would understand who hasn't seen shallow stream beds looking like they were subjected to hydraulic placer mining operations or remote meadows literally torn to shreds from ATV 'fun'. Who suffers? The majority of riders who only want to explore beautiful country and leave no footprint.
