Stupid out-of-staters! GO HOME
#1
I live in a little rinky dink town in Vermont. Our roads are open to ATV's to go to and from trails. about 1/2 a mile above my house is my neighbors sand pit that he lets me and my friends ride in. well between my house and my neighbors sand pit we have a neighbor from Neptune, New jersey. now already that guy sounds like he is from outerspace. he has a summer home. it isnt his permanent residence. but anyways, back on track. the trail is vertical to his drive way but on opposite sides of the road. he has complained about ATVers kids and adults alike that they are driving recklessly up the private landowners land. he went and complained to the select board. they told him they would keep the roads open. this guy from neptune just doesnt get the hint that people like to ride their ATV's. it isnt a crime in that, nor in popping a wheelie, spinning up a little bit of dirt because you accelerate. personally i wish that stupid jack @$$ would just shut his mouth when he came up to this little hick town. If anyone on here is against ATV's (i doubt there are any one) i want you to know that when you move into a "quiet little town" people are going to continue living their lives no matter what you stereotyped the state to be. in this case birds chirping, deer grazing, and friendly neighbors. all of those things are here in vermont. but people are going to have fun no matter what this idiot thinks. he has all of those things he just needs to shut up because friendly neighbors went out the window when he started pissing and moaning about ATVs. Why are people opposed to ATv's and not snomobiles? ATV's arent nearly as abundant as Snowmobiles (in NE kingdom). they arent as fast. most of all ATV's are usually NOT driven in ICY condidtions therefore having more control over what happens while riding. just thought i would help open the eyes of those that are ignorant and think Vermont is full of piece and quiet with out the roar of a 4-stroke engine.

Have you ever had a conversation with this guy. Many times being friendly or at least respectful will go a long way towards smoothing these things over. You have an aftermarket exhaust, maybe you should try cooling it when you are within a couple hundred yards of this guys house.

Sounds like the new guy didn't do a good job of checking out the neighborhood prior to making his purchase. The sad things is, he will probably run for city council or mayor or something and make this his crusade.
One thing about ATV's and snowmobiles... First off, generally, the ground is frozen when snowmobiles are out there. They do far less environmental damage as well due to the weight being less per square inch with their massive track contact surface. They don't do much mud slinging either. Snowmobilers keep the bars open and food on a lot of people's table over the winter.
Plus, I beleive the snow muffles the sound quite a lot.
I'd start complaining to every local authority about the length of his grass, the color of his house, any garbage he has laying around yada yada. Make him feel REAL welcome and know what it feels like to be harrassed.
On the flip side, maybe all it takes is offering him a ride on your ATV. You might hook him...

When i wrote this message, i will have to admit i did leave some things out. i saw him out on his property re-wiring a fence and trying to take over some of our land. i stopped and shot the **** with him for 10-15 minutes. he saw me on my wheeler and said he should get one for his 300+ acres he ownes. so i thought ot myself, this guy isnt that bad... well i was wrong. the other thing is i have only had my performence exhaust for 2 weeks. this was not during the time he was complaining. everyone that went up there had stock machines. we ride respectively on the road past his house, but when we get on the trail we light em up. especially now that he is being a pr!ck. one good reason i got a louder exhaust other than i crave more power. (yea i know its only a 400 ex but jumping from a yamaha timberwolf 4x4 to a 400ex is quite a gap) so this guy wrote letters to the editor about ATV and crap like that and then he doesnt even have the nuggets to show up to the selectboard meeting. i agree with the snowmachine thing. the snow does muffle the sound. but they are a lot faster, and quite a bit more dangerous when meeting people going 35 MPH in both directions (70MPH) on a tiny corner. there are more deaths every year on sleds than on ATV's. but im not trying to argue about sleds vs. ATVs. i ride both. but anyways i just though i could complain about a stupid neighbor/ citizen. all he needs to do is shut up and enjoy country life...

Well I'am glad you at least tried to talk to the guy. People like that talk out of both side's of their mouth. You know smile in your face and stab you in the back. By him not showing up at the meeting is good for you.
