once they get rid of paying sales tax on a machine bought out of state id be writing letters day and night. but i bought my machines in nh. i should'nt have to pay sales tax in mass just to ride in my own state. since all the legal areas to ride in are 2 plus hrs away. just go to maine in nh. and pay a slightly higher yrly reg without hundreds of dollars for sales tax they lost out on me buying in nh!

I bought my machine in state, but the point of this is to keep the remaining park open and maybe add more. It's a win win situation for riders and the state of MA to keep riding legal.
Yes they make money on Reg and Tax, but it also helps local business owners that are trying to make a living.
When you buy your machines out of state, it hurts local businesses and eventually could end up causing someone to lose their job. I personally prefer to keep business local and put money back into my community. That's just my take on it.

Hey, thanks for posting this, you beat me to it. I also frequent the NEATV forums.
Have you checked out WEstern MAss ATv
I know their webpage is kind of weak, but my brother was talking to a guy that is in it, says that have trails you can ride on just for being a member, they must have permission from land owners because it was legal riding. They do poker runs, special group rides etc. Also appears these guys/gals do work parties at the state forests also, not sure if it is any way associated w/ northeast atv'ers. Its only $20 a year, thinking about joining and seeing what its about, if I make one good ride, I'd say $20 was worth it.

i live in haverhil plaistow is the next town over . so ur right i try to keep the local dealers afloat buying local. or did u miss that in my last post. theres no reason why i have to pay sales tax extra when my machine is financed and i pay a monthly bill. to think mass wants u to pay sales tax on top of registering ur machine is insane.

West350 - My co-worker is a member of W.Mass Atv Club, he said its great. He had told me about the things you mentioned about rides and members also get discounts on Quad parts at certain shops. I will be signing up this summer sometime.
