Nor Cal Trail closings - Easily voice your opinion
#1
Hello fellow trail riders,
All the draconian BS about the National Forest Service DEIS and the trail closings has motivated me to invest my own time and resources into an easy to use web form/petition script that automatically sends a properly formatted email to the USFS regarding the DEIS.
It takes about a minute, just follow the instructions below.
1: Go to http://www.savethetrails.us and press the comment and sign button at the bottom of the page
2: Fill in your personal information in the form
3: Choose from the list of pre selected, specific comments. Add your own comments if desired
5: The buttons at the bottom of the form allow you to Preview the message, Send to a Friend and Submit the message
6: Check your email for a confirmation message and click the link in the email. Once that is done your personal message will be sent to the USFS
As you many of you know there has been a lot of talk about the potential for the USFS to shut down some of our favorite riding areas under the guise of environmental impact. It looked like the USFS were going to slide this one in but a last minute effort by the people who use these trails and the pro OHV advocacy groups got the public comments portion of the DEIS extended to October 22nd.
If we get enough interest in this we can re-purpose this form/script for other pro OHV causes nationwide.
Thanks
Adam

Hi Adam,
I have been tracking this recently and am def innately late to the party but still enough time to have some fun with this.
CORVA seems quite involved with things going on at the State OHV Division of the State Parks Dept. I've been catching up by reading the minutes of the past several meetings. SB742 was just signed by the Governor a couple weeks ago so this keeps the OHV Division alive for some number of years. The funding issues are still up in the air due to the results of the Fuel Tax survey that reduced the cut for OHV by a significant amount.
The Division also minimally communicates with other OHV use in other agencies such as USFS and BLM and local entities. For exapmple, the past few meetings included an all day tour of BLM in the sounth as well as a visit to the Santa Clara County run Metcalf Motorcycle (ohv) park.
As you have been involved with this for some time, can you provide some insight to the organizations that are most connected and influential with pro OHV related issues?

and you mentioned CORVA
To me it seems that the BRC is the most active.
