Default brute 750 vs. cat 650 vs. king 700

me and some friends were playing over the weekend, and one wanted to race. he has a cat 650 with a dynatek cdi, hmf penland pipe, jets, k&n, and clutch kit. 30" mudlites.
my wifes kingquad 700 with dobek tfi, k&n, hmf utility, 27"swamplites. there was 2 runs, and the cat got the king by half a length. the run was about 75 yards. i was shocked cause everyone said the suzuki was so slow!!!!!!!! my brute 750 only got the cat by one!!!!! im gonna get a copperhead for the king, and see how the brute likes that. just one of those wierd things, when u ride the brute and king, it feels like the brute is so much faster, but in reality, there aint much at all. could it be the smoother ride on the king?

I've heard the king is deceptive because it's such a smooth ride
