Default ARE YOU SICK OF THIS TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me and my buddies clean our trails all the time. Sad thing is a rail runs near it and the Rail Co. have their own patrol ATVs going through the area and always talk crap to us for riding near the rails and threaten to ticket us but they never once said thanks for cleaning all the burnt tires and garbage up or never once reported the MANY stolen cars in the area.

Seriously, there have to be 10... I've taken pics and reported them to the local PD but they don't care.

Here are a few... no lie!

Most of the trails around my house branch off of unmantained public roads on to private property. Before I started cleaning the trails I went to see a few of the town selectmen and informed them of the dumping. They told me they did not have the money for a clean up. I told them I would haul it out and pile it if they would dispose of it. So the highway dept. removes the piles and everyone is happy. As far as stolen cars go what I have done in the past is report the cars to the police but give no description of the cars condition. Or ask for a cop to come out to my house because I am having a problem with stolen cars and then we go for a "short" walk. If none of those things work go to a town meeting and give everyone a ear full. Most of the time you will find the men and women from the conservation commision will be willing to work with you when they hear what you have found on your "nature walk".

You're right, a good handful of riders don;t care about the trails because they disregard laws to begin with. I see it all the time, people with their bored out, LOUD, quads digging ruts in trails, laughing, riding without helmets, drinking and slinging mud allover the place while drinking. I really hate those people and I see them all the time on our trails.

we lost a little, unofficial riding spot because of stupid people. It was just a patch of land beside the interstate with a couple trails cut on it. Maybe a couple acres- nothing you can't see across. Nothing to challenge a full sized quad, mostly I'd say it was a kid's play area.

But within a couple months it was over run with people. Usually dipshits with no gear just out looking to burn gas. Until recently, the cops didn't mind and left us alone.

Then some idiots couldn't be happy with a free place to noodle around. Soon they were tearing up on the street. Once a cop kicked everyone out because some moron almost hit a car on the street and the car passengers called. Shut us all down.

Other idiots tossed their beer cans and stuff everywhere. Others kept doing donuts in the parking area- and caused HUGE dust clouds that blanketed the interstate and caused a hazard. Look- it's not hard, my kid's 90 does donuts, so you're not impressing anyone with a full on race machine doing it. Get over it.

We had a good thing going there (at least for mini-quads) but dumbass rednecks strait ruined it. It's a shocking expose to see how stupid people are. Racing across the parking area, blasting onto a trail without seeing what direction traffic was going, no gear- hell half the people can't be bothered to wear shirts........Riding on the street, or across the street in a fenced off area (someone found a way around the fence) that was marked.

Well now the entire place is fenced off, big No Tresspassing signs up. Worst- it's a place where my kid could meet other kids (there's no race class for mini-quads) and I could keep an eye on her. No more.

And it wasn't the kids that ruined it for everyone.

We actually have quite a few trails here in Alaska. There is one in particular that get some serious trash every year. It is called Jim Creek. It has a great trail that goes back to the Knik Glacier with some of the best scenery. A few years ago the local ATV club (I am now a member) started organizing a yearly clean up. This year we picked up about 7 tons of trash. The first couple of years they picked almost 15 tons!! Without this type of organization they would have closed this down a long time ago. This is what it takes to keep access to your trails. Get organized or lose the right (privilege) to ride.

To those who think trespassing is the right thing to do, you are part of the problem. Enjoy what you have cause it will slowly go away!!

Default ARE YOU SICK OF THIS TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some friends and I were cleaning around some trails a few day back when the railroad patrol stopped us. They first asked us what we were doing, and we stated we were cleaning and REMOVING the debris from the trails (which they have no jurisdiction over since it's state land). The guy was being such a dick too, he said that we had to vacate the premises ASAP because we were too close to the rail (more like 100 yards from) and we could only access the trails by riding on the rails (not true, the trail beside is on state land, about 40-50 yards from the rail) and it was against the law. So, my friend being the ******* that he is stepped in and asked the guy "so you have a problem with us cleaning up, but you guys have no problems with people burning stolen cars, tires and getting drunk in the middle of the night?". Basically he said he was going to call the police on us for trespassing, so we left. We can access the rails by going through the woods instead f next to the rail, so we will do that next time.

Anyone think I should bring this to the local police? The rail guy basically said he was going to call the police and tell him we were riding ON the railroad when we weren't. I think that's bullshit and we had to leave 5-6 bags of trash there because the guy would not give us enough time to put it on our quads and strap them down. So, now when kids head up there next time they will end up tearing open the bags, burning them and strewing it allover the place again.

I'm looking for some advice on this. I'm now worried if he sees us there again he will call the cops and tell them we were riding the rail, when we will be cutting through the woods.

If I was in the right I'd have told him to get on the radio and call the cops.

Don't let thugs intimidate you whether they're wearing a badge or not.

First off, let me congratulate you for your clean up efforts! - Thank You!!

Secondly; I agree with Captain Q, look the guy in the eye and tell him to call the police. If you are cleaning up public land and you can prove to the police that you can access the place from another route the Rent a Cop will end up looking very foolish in front of the police.

If you want to push it a step further call up the rail road and tell them about the situation - they hate bad publicity. The Ignorant RR Cop will be talked too.

All of that having been said, be sure that you are not on the RR land before you start stirring up this mess.

Good luck and WELL DONE!

CaptainQuint and Bair got it dead on - if i was there and cleaning up and on state land i would have told him to go for it - 10 bucks says he would have gotten flustered when he realized he could not bully you and moved on - if not cops would likely listen and tell him he is wrong and to leave you alone - morons making it hard to clean up after morons - unreal. people look at me weird cause i wont even leave my cig butts out there - i put it out and the butt goes in my pocket until i get to a fire pit or camp

We have a place about 20 minutes from our house that is private land - guy just asks for a donation to maintain the track and trails - nothing huge or fancy just a place to ride. well a bunch of morons end up cutting new trails when it is posted not to - ride every direction full throttle every direction so you never know what is around the corner - leave trash - glass - saw one guy draining oil on the ground next to the pond that everyone fishes and swims in - idiots with 4X4 trucks that thing they have big foot tearing up marsh land - goes on and on - this is all in this guys back yard - you can see his house - we quit going cause of the idiots - somoen is goin got get killed with the way they ride there. worst part about it is that for the most part it is not a place where if you have much riding experience you would be challanged at all - a great place to teach the young ones how to ride and proper techniques - aftrer that you kinda get bored - good place to check your set up before heading out of town though - so these young adults or old toddlers (however you wanna look at it) are just trashing it for everyone - actually we have not gone back in 2 years - wonder what it is like now - will have to go take a swim there this weekend and check things out - last i knew he black listed quads due to a few morons.

i am hoestly a little surprised that more people dont chime in here - makes ya wonder if some of them might be seeing themselves as the problem after reading the posts - hope this wakes up some people to start being responsible and respectful.
