I'm still not ready for a new quad but when I am I'll be looking at another 500 class machine. Mine will go close to 60 MPH which is more than fast enough. The big bores have more power than I could never use and come with a big price tag to match their big engines. My friend with a 1000 can outrun me on the roads but I don't like going much over 40 or 45 anyway. I've been in situations where I ran out of traction but never felt like I needed more power.

If I buy something else, it will probably end up being a side by side, probably a 50" one. You need more power in those because of the added size and weight. A 1000cc engine making 100 hp in a 1300 lb utv is the same as 50 hp in a 650 lb quad, which is about what a Brute Force 750 makes and also weighs for example. The 50" machines are a little lighter but still most are in the 1000lb range. Something like the Wildcat Trail appeals to me. The 700 twin makes around 60 hp in a 1000lb machine pushing it to about a 65 mph top speed. I think that would be fast enough for me.

I think the 1000 Wildcat will be a great ride

If only they put the 1000 in the trail model, that would be awesome. The 700 from what I've seen is pretty impressive in the 50" model. Just a notch slower than the Rzr 900 trail model but costs quite a bit less. A local dealer has the eps model(the base model doesn't have eps) for right at 10 grand. That's basically what a new Grizzly or Brute Force costs. At this point, I'm just thinking about it, not ready to spend that kind of money yet.

I'm happy with my 500. My husband wants to trade his 800 for a 1,000. This makes me laugh since he already rides like a girl and won't use the ccs he has.

I can say with out a doubt the 700 twinning the trail/sport has plenty of pep, with some easy hp left to pull out if really needed.

The 700 twin in either of them would be a step up in performance from the 660 single in the Grizzly even with the extra weight of a utv, even the slightly heavier sport model. Polaris makes a 55" wide Rzr 900, which I find interesting. Probably not many people know about that. The 50" width machines are great for tight trails but in off camber situations, I can imagine they would be a bit tippy. The 60" machines are obviously a lot wider and won't fit atv trails. A 55" wide machine would seem to fit in there perfectly. I just spent some money upgrading the Grizzly with a new winch and some used but upgraded wheels and tires so I think I'm just going to keep it. The thought of spending 10K or more on a new machine even though I could just doesn't seem justified. I'd rather spend 10K trading up to a nicer truck instead. Though my 99 Z71 is mechanically solid and runs and drives great, rust will become an issue in the coming years. The 10K will probably be spent on upgrading my car most likely within the next couple years.
