2 stroke banning question

I was told by a few people that they are stopping production on 2 stroke atv's, does anybody know if this is true or is it just a rumor

You won't see another 2-stroke model ever sold here; as the end is near for the 'std.' 2 banger, as we have known it.

I'll try and find what I read about it, but if its true the new laws go in effect in `06. and it will ban "all" 2 strokes for sale in the US.
