Default Will you still support GM (Government Motors)?

Now that GM has finally filed for bankruptcy and has milked the tax payers of billions of dollars and has robbed their bond holders of their investments, would you still buy a GM car or truck?
NOT ME!
How is the last remaining co. of the "big three" (FORD) supposed to be able to compete with the U.S. Government, who makes the emission and safety laws, and also is a 60% owner of GM?
IMO Ford will be, or is, being punished for doing the right thing and standing on there own feet! Taking responsibility for their own mistakes and paying for it themselves! They should be rewarded for their stand with our business!

I feel bad for the workers that get stuck in the middle of this. I was always told ford was the way to go,and I have a family member who is an executive there who handles all of there recalls and works in Dearborn. He has had to let go some of his workers too.

Thumbs down

All American auto companies should be receiving our business. Unfortunately many American consumers buy foreign.

I think it's odd that you feel GM should be punished further. Has it not been punished enough. You wish failure upon our largest corporation and all the suppliers and people who's family depends it. This is our largest manufacturing corporation that will be called upon in the event of war to produce military equipment and defend this nation. That is truly un-American.

Who would promote this concept I can only guess.

as to the original question, yess i will still but gm. if they make the product with the same quality and reliability why not?

do you know which auto manufacturer produces the most cars in the U.S.?

A: TOYOTA..... they employ Americans as well, and they have done there best to not lay workers off. instead they tried something different, cutting production in a slumping economy. while in Detroit it was business as usual, see any difference?

detroit (gm) is overpriceing there products and killing themselves. $50,000 for a new suburban that still gets the same millage (18 highway) and using the same engines from the 1960's is backwards. atleast some companies are putting money into developing engines that get better millage with more power. not detroit-they would rather put the money in there pockets rather than into there products.

I support the thousands of workers that will most likely lose there jobs because of the sins of those executives. There are currently 40 million used cars on the market. Think about that number for a minute- 40,000,000. What does this tell you? Nobody has any money. The big three can get all the bailout money they want but who will buy the cars? Look at the brands that have fallen by the wayside over the past decade. Plymouth,Oldsmobile and soon to be Pontiac. Do you think Buick will make it through? What about the workers who build these cars? All of these(besides Plymouth) are GM products that are of very high quality. People are not buying foreign, they aren't buying at all because they have no money.

Hmmm, where did I say that I want ed GM punished? I don't think I said that "wish" GM would fail either! The FACT IS that GM DID FAIL! Then they held out their hand and took 50 BILLION DOLLARS from the American tax payers, put there own employee's jobs down the tube and basically robbed all of the money their bond holders had invested from them.
As far as the workers go, I feel they were deceived and misled by GM and the UAW union into believing this could go on forever! I do feel bad for all of the workers and the suppliers workers that will lose their jobs because of poor management and greed on GM's and the UAW's part! I have been there myself! On the other hand GM employee's have enjoyed some of the highest paying manufacturing jobs in America along with very good benifits. I "WISH" them all well!
Baseball, Apple Pie and Ford, is a far more appropriate slogan in my book!

Funride, you need to take off your rose colored liberal glasses and look around at the REAL world for a change!
I won't lower myself to the level of calling you un-American! I know you are! Take care and good luck to ya!

And you most likely drive an F series. -It will be more difficult for Ford to compete, no question. GM will be dropping a lot of baggage. Support Ford, they make good products too.

Hey Rancher: I said the idea of letting our largest manufacturer fail (as in disappear from the landscape) is un-American.....We're not talking about Baskin Robbins here. I was not fingering you personally as un-American. Somehow you've gotten confused on ideas and concepts and have delved into personal attacks.

I bought a GM car in 98 that had the 3.4 liter bad head gasket and blew a motor. It was a well know flaw since the early 90s and was not corrected until 2003. Warranty did not cover it nor was there a recall, there was a civil suit against GM over it because the problem was that wide spread yet GM did nothing.

I had a Toyota that recalled a bad wiper during mid year, talk about custormer sevice on the other exstream end.

I got burnt by GM once and thats the last time, I,m sure there better now but I dont give second chances and by the looks of things I,m not alone.
