If the US keeps going the way it's going, you should probably look to Venezuela as the model. Redistribution of wealth, your wealth into my pocket. Kids are given drugs in school, instead of punishment. Can't wait for Sharia Law to take effect, then everything will be peachy!

Like it or not, the future belongs to the young who fortunately have better critical thinking skills than most old folks. Redistribution of wealth happens now, through laws put in place by those with wealth and power, in order to gain more wealth and power. That's about to change. Sharia law/old testament law is not going to happen. Fewer and fewer young people are religious, and that's a good thing.

Sounds like Bernie has indoctrinated too many people. Young people having better thinking skills which I wholeheartedly disagree with because of the simple fact they haven't had the LIFE skills that come with experience as the older generation has...Plus redistribution of wealth?? Then that sounds more like Socialism AGAIN and young people haven't a clue as to what that really entails. It took The USSR 70 years to see that it couldn't work. Have some one on a large collective farm making the same amount, busting their butts and having the guy next to you slacking off making the same amount of money for doing less?? Won't take long for the young man that's hard working to stop and think why should I be working this hard with no incentive,no chance of a better life than the guy slacking off..Then the system starts to fail. And yes fewer and fewer people are religious. If that's a good thing, then I certainly can't see it. Again 70 years of this and Russia could barely feed its population from these giant collectives.. Graft, greed, higher up politicians taking the wealth. Yes we have that here in our present form of government also, but at least the individual has a chance to better themselves if they work hard without government dragging them down.

Socialism was a good concept, in theory. As long as money exists(and I don't think its going away anytime soon), the motivation to work is tied to it. If there is no monetary reward, the vast majority of people wouldn't work hard. Or if you make extra money and have to give it back to the collective, then what would be the point? It just doesn't work.

I think I watched 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 way too many times, but have seen some little bits of each of these films "fictional content" slowly creep into the world around us.

My sister in law escaped Czechoslovakia when it was under Soviet rule. She said they had a saying about socialism, "The pretended to pay us to work, and we pretended to work."

Is the move away from God and Christianity a good thing? Personally, I go back to what the Founders had to say. "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." -John Adams

In other words the Constitutional form of government requires that the people are honorable and have a guiding principle. Without these you see what's becoming of our nation.

Please let me say that todays younger generation is NOT smarter, facts show that we are dumbing down society, ask any retired teacher...you can't ask currently employed ones or it will cost them their job. I have watched my own kids (now 35-43) and my grandkids now young adults grow and watched their learning. It is a shambles to what I had to learn in school. I have also taught at the community college for 28 yrs and I can assure you that society is dumbing down each generation so the government can convince people that they know what is best for them. I see living proof in my own family as well as the many families I associate with.

Dumbing down the successive generations makes them more pliable and gullible. They don't teach the founding principles of this great nation anymore. Instead, they indoctrinate them into the whole, "The World owes you a living and you should get everything for free", mentality. Have to give the liberal/socialist/communist ilk credit. They've managed to get almost 50% taking some form of government handout. When I was a kid, if you needed a handout, you were ashamed. It used to be called transitional assistance. Now, people expect everything to be given to them. When you take any form of assistance, the simple lesson is that you give the government control of you in that part of your life. They now have something you want to keep, so you have to vote for those who will keep you on the leash. The funny thing about taxing "the rich" is that, at some point, your property and wealth will be taken away.

You do realize my good man that you are a minority in this great country as fewer and fewer people have the capability of free thinking and can come to the conclusion you just wrote about!!
