I have heard of that. but they are usually homemade pieces. Piano wire is not the only thing to worry about. Look at this sick, sick manual put out by "Earth First". CLICK HERE

Isn't it illegal to use things like cables for fences? (At least some states) Because there were so many accidents happening with atv's. The cables should be marked with rags or ribbons. Another thing people liked to do years ago was take a chain and connect it to the rear axle of a police car and connect the other end to a pole or something. Then they'd have someone speed by so the officer would chase. When the policeman would speed after the car it would yank the rear end out from under the police car. Don't try this!
I guess it's good that my average speed is around 11 mph. It's easier to see things in the trail like glass.

Does anyone remember when you could float down a creek on tubes for miles and nobody would yell to get off their land? The mountains around here are being broke up into 10 or 15 acre lots instead of one person owning hundreds of acres. Remember when you could hunt across a mountain without having someone yell to get off their land?

Nowadays, everybody is so sue-happy you could call this a
litigous society. The guy I work with had a snowmobiler tress-
pass on his clearly marked property, run into his fence, injure
himself (slightly) where-upon he went home and proceeded
to sic his lawyer on him. The result of his own stupidity and
disregard of other peoples property has forced my friend into
declaring bankruptcy! As a whole, our society is turning
into a bunch of panty-waisted,think of #1 ONLY, punks!!

I would never resort to these tactics but keep in mind not everyone out there wants people riding on their land. My family owns about 1000 acres east of Parkersburg WV and we all ride it a lot. The land is posted and has gates at every access. You would be surprised at the damage done to gates as well as private land torn up by people who just don't care and seem to think they have a right to ride wherever they want.
If people would respect the private property of others, booby traps etc would be much less of a problem to those of us just wanting to enjoy the great outdoors!
