Chevy Diesel???

That sounds interesting. But..... Have you seen the new Power Wagon concept Truck? It looks killer. Motor by Caterpiller. It's like 700 FP torque, I don't remember the HP, and like 7.8 liters. It's in one of the late '99/early '00 Petersons Off Road Mag.
On another note; my dad had one of those piece-o-crap 5.7's. It had 200,000 when he sold it and the only trouble he had out of it was an injector pump at 100,000. It ran like a scalded dog. I had a 6.2 in a Blazer that got 18 MPG but if you could see your breath outside, you had to plug it in or it wouldn't start. I just bought a Dodge in August and at 2300 miles, had to have a new injector pump put in it. If it hadn't been under warrentee, it would have been $2000. The Diesel option was only $4600. They got you by the Bells. Anyway, I'm getting about 18 MPG in mine. It's a 3/4 ton 4x4 Quad Cab, 8' bed with 410 gears. I think I should have got the 373's.

Hey! Yea, my friend and I were talking about Chevy trucks (both chevy fans) and he was telling me about the new diesel they were coming out with in I think 2001. I just think it is bad that chevy does't have the diesels out on the road like they should. I think when they did that think changing a gas into a diesel, I think that is right, it burt alot of people out on chevy deisels. I figure that is what hurt them most. I am not sure, but I just hope this new truck will be the best. I am going to look into it and see about getting one. I have a fifth wheel (31ft.) and I have a Chevy 3500, 454 engine in it. It isn't a dually, I like it because I can fit it in the garage and still have room for all my junk. So if you have any web sites or info about it let me know. I have seen the dieselpage.com. But thanks for any help or advice. I will take anyones...even if you are a ford fan. Besides that chevy suck!! Thanks a bunch.

Hey, hey kawiboy...you don't count in this matter. And let me say what i said about at the bottom about the Chevy sucks. I ment that if a ford fan wants to address his opinion just not to be putting down chevy. Example...Chevy Sucks for rules. I didn't do it and we all have our opinion. Thank you.

Hey boys, I'll throw in my few cents on this subject....After years and years and years of owning, driving, maintaing, customizing, rebuilding, and restoring Chevys and GMCs, I've grown ta like em(ALOT). For years, I pulled and hauled with my '79 Chevy 1 ton 4x4. It came stock with a 454 and 4 spd, dana 44 and corp 14 bolt. few years later, I put a 454SS in it, dropped the 44 and put a 60 under it. Few more years came a FI 454 out of a '93 truck and a NV4500 5 spd. out of the same rig, and that's what I'm runnin now. I have 4" of suspension lift, and DUAL 33x10.50x16 Super Swampers, I know it's not the most off road rig there is, but I can't have it too high, otherwise, I can't pull goosenecks. Last summer, one of my hands, rolled it over on it's top. Only thing that happened was that I had a crunched cab, so I opted for an entire front clip and cab off of an '85 silverado! Now I got electric windows, and the works, it's a sweet rig, I'd never get rid of it, I've been driving it since I was in high school. In '93 I bought a brand new GMC 3500 dually 4x4 w/ a 6.5 TD. I had about 70,000 miles on it, when I was driving through OK city with it, and a little toyota runnin 75mph, decided to mate with my front end!! So I got a brand new '96 Silverado 3500 4x4, with the 6.5, I had about 40,000 on it, and decided I was gonna put the same lift on it, well, let me tell you right away, I HATE that IFS crap put on heavy duty trucks, so me and the boys, put it in the shop, set it up on jack stands, and began tearing all that IFS crap out of there, we rebuilt the front subframe, and slapped a dana 60 under it!!! THEN, I put 4" of suspension lift on it, and went with the same tires of choice as the '79. I know independant suspension has it's good points, but I'd stick with solid axles any day of the week! This truck I bought for better mileage when on the long hauls, and when I do alot of highway driving, I pull off the SS's and put on a set of six 8.5x19.5 radials, they're the equivelant to 33" tires, just lower profiled and better for highway driving. Now back to the point, GM's 6.5s-awesome torquie, good mileage equivelants to the 454s, great engines...GM's 6.2s-Junk, just absolute junk, unless you find one with now miles on it, don't get it, they run hot, have all kinds of valve train problems, cracks heads like nothing you'd imagine, no torque, just..junk, I mean, junk, GM's 5.7 diesels, well, just lets not get started on general motor's biggest diesel mistake. My little experience with fords-6.7s-equivelant to GM's 6.2s, 7.3s, not bad, as long as it's a powerstroke. And experience with Mopar, Cummings 5.9-awesome!!! you'd never expect to get anything like this out of an inline 6!!! I do like these suckers, chrysler did something right with that, as long as you have one NOT coupled to an auto tranny, or high rear end gearing, then it's unstoppable!!! When GM does finally come out with their new style silverado HD trucks, with the 6.6, I imagine I'll look into a 3500 HD(stock w/19.5 tires) Also, there are some good gas burning engines out there, GMs 454 and 400 small block, well basically any well tuned chevy big block is a good tower, but the 400 sb, you've got all the high hp potentials as all the rest of the small blocks, and all the high torque potential as the rest of the gm big blocks. If you have further questions regarding "perfect" pullin machines, drop me a line, I don't want to brag, but theres a "few" trucks towing out there, that came out of my garage doors....

Thanks to everyone for all your input and thoughts. With the exception of Kawi boy, or whoever the heck that was, it has been interesting hearing all your thoughts.
Hey Rob-loved your story about your chev's, if you do happen to get one of the new HD Chev diesel, let me know what you think, I'd also like to get one. Can't wait till they come out.
