What have you guys done to your 8.1?? We have 2 of them and just put an exhaust and supercharger and it has 510hp and 857 ft of tourque. The other is stock, i was looking at a more cost effective way to get a lot of HP and tourque out of the stocker... What do u guys think??

 

Are you wanting power there all the time like the Supercharger? I like Nitrous myself but of course it won't be there to use all the time like a Supercharger or Turbo will.

 

857ft/lb? damn man thats alot of torque just from a supercharger and exhaust, I know BBs produce alot of torque but whoaa!!

What kind of boost levels are you running to get that kind of HP and torque increase? Most of the 8.1s make around 290hp at the rear wheels in stock trim and close to 390 foot pounds of torque. Magnacharger doesn't have a model that will add that much power. Is it a Vortech or Paxton R trim centrifugal blower?

 

I am not looking for the power that the Supercharged one has but a good boost over stock. The super charger is a Whipple in Fresno, all of those numbers are at the rear wheels, I cant rember the boost exacticly but ill try 2 find out, Oh yea i forgot 1 thing it has the whipple charger and a intercooler to..

 

Also the Whipple is a twin-screw charger..

 

Are you sure the numbers you put up are correct? There has to be more to it than the supercharger and exhaust if they are correct. The standard Big Block Vortec 8100 V8 SFI engine delivers 340 horsepower @ 4200 rpm and 455 lb.-ft The Whipple supercharger site says their twin screw supercharger will increase torque and Horsepower by up to 45%. You would have to get a 50% increase to get 510 HP. That part is feasible but a 50% increase in torque would only put it at about 683 lbs torque.
I just gotta know where you found that extra torque!

 

Well here is the scoop guys, I put the wrong number of torque it is 757 insted of 857. It is fine tuned to get a little more out of the Whipple and the motor....

 

How much is a Vortec 8.1L from GM?!? too much prolly!!
