Default Weekend Warrior FS2600 Question

I am about to purchase a FS2600 and have a Chevy 1500HD which is a 3/4 ton with a 6 liter vortec and all the towing stuff. Is this trailer too heavy for me? I assume that I wil need a special hitch to help on the swaying, if so, what do you guys recommend? I live in Florida so no hills and most trips will be less than 2 hours on back roads. Any help will be appreciated.

Default Weekend Warrior FS2600 Question

Man, that seems light! Is that the new 'lite' model? Mine weighs ~6,500 LBS dry and I though the WW was the heaviest of them all. The weight they claim is likely w/o any options at all.

If it is only 5K lbs, add 1000 lbs or so for quads, 800 lbs for water, generator, supplies etc you could be up around 8K or more...what's your CGVWR (or whatever the initals are) of your rig? 9K is quite a bit of weight for your 3/5 ton truck. If you're not in the mtns alot I bet you'll be fine.

Default Weekend Warrior FS2600 Question

Hey there, I have the Warrior FB 2600. When I first bought the trailer I had a '97 GMC 3/4 ton with the vortec 350. Although I could have lived with the 350's power for local trips to the coast, I couldn't live with the fact that the trailer was just to big for the short wheelbase of the GMC...shortbed xtra cab. Going into corners...It didn't care how fast or slow...the trailer would push the a$$ of the truck around...VERY SPOOKY! Yes I had all this ez lift hitch goodies...bottom line is "too much trailer, not enough truck" I now have a '97 ford longbed sixpack with a hopped up power stroke. Now I pull my trailer with confidence and can hardly tell the trailer is back there, and thats loaded with my long travel sandrail, LT 80 and either the wifes Kodiak or my Grizzly. Good luck

Dave

I thought all 1500's are 1/2 ton trucks?

Ha ha. Yeah, it was more for anyone reading the thread.

1500=1/2 ton

2500=3/4 ton

3500=1 ton

That's all I was referring to
