Default Helping a friend. Car / Building quad problems

My friend is a good friend to me, though he isnt exaclty blessed with money. He has a few problems that maybe you guys can help resolve.

Problem 1: He has a 1990 acura that has a problem idling, it will idle at 900 rpm's then slowly work up to 2500 rpms and fall back down to 900 rpms in a rythm. People always think he wants to race them, when its just his car is messed up. Some people have told him its his airbox, others say it is his timing. Any help would be great.

Problem 2: He has a 1978 ktm 500 with a burnt out clutch. Would I be able to get a new clutch for this bike? Would it be worth saving the engine and putting it in a cheap quad frame, so he has a toy. Granted he doesnt have much money, but could he possibly make a quad with low amount of $? Is the engine even worth saving? I think it is a 4 Valve 4 stroke engine, I think with a fresh bore, and a 11:1 piston he could have himself a descent quad? Any help would be great.

Thanks

Problem 1 sounds like an air leak to me, or maybe an exhaust leak possibly.
Problem 2 Get back on wether its a KX or KTM, If it where the KX it would be a mean monster, as for the clutch, I would call some clucth manufactures like EBC and see if they make a clutch for the KTM.

lol, actually I was way off. He has a 1979 XR 500, with a burnt clutch, and a minor tranny problem. Would it still be a good motor to use?

The Acura problem sounds like either a vacuum like or a bad Idle Air Control Valve.

the acura sounds like the idle control. it could be a vacume leak but thats a lot of swing for a leak. does it lug down when he puts it in gear( if it's an automatic)? pull one of the vacume lines and see if it gets worse, if it's a leak causing that much swing it probably won't change when you pull a line.
