Why would you NEED one on a wheeler?

If you're on pavement you shouldn't be going fast enough to draw attention, if you on any legal highway you should obey the traffic laws---ATV's have a bad enough rep....always keep that in mind.

Now, on to your question.....I've heard that Valentine1 is a great detector and will pay your fine for 1 year....but I think they run about $400. I'd say stay with something like Whistler or Passport...you can have a pretty high end detector for $200

I have had a Cobra radar detector for years, as have my friends and they are great!!!. I paid $100 for mine. My buddy paid like $140 for his, but his had built in compass and it talks to you Whatever you get, make sure it has 360* detection

Don't waste you rmoney, a radar detector won't work against the new LAZAR gun that is replacing the old radar gun.

blinder m-10. works on them all. or you could go with a phantom II by rocky mountain radar. both work great at jamming the radar but the m-10 is the better one but a little higher.

Nowadays a lot law enforcement agencies use Instant-On radar/lidar/laser and wait for you to be directly in front of them before zapping you....no matter how good your detector is you're gonna get busted.

Some smaller agencies still run always on radar for their speed traps and you may pick up a radar signal as they are targeting someone else or if they are running it as they are driving down the road

Personally, I use to run with a detector when I traveled back and forth to whatever military base I was at....then I realized that most traffic flow on the interstates is well above the speed limit to begin with....so now I just stay with the flow of traffic.

Radar detectors are illegal here. A guy got busted with a radar detector in his car and tried to sell the cop on the idea that it wasn't really a radar detector but a MOOSE detector. He told a story of having gotten into a Moose-Vehicle accident a few years ago, and a friend bought him this moose detector out of concern for his safety.

Survey says .. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

FYI .. the cop didn't buy the story

Give him an E for effort at least!! LOL

If you are at the forefront of a pack of cars then a detector wont do you a bit of good. By the time you even realize it's going off they have a locked speed. Now on interstate traffic or such a good detector will shine through. Do a thorough search on detectors. There is a retired officer out west that tests the units and rates them. The Phantom is a joke and does not work. You pay a lot of money for a middle road detector. That's why they say they will pay for the ticket. The Escort Passport and Valentine are the best on the market. I bought the Passport for $300 and it is brilliant. It will detect an instant on signal over 3 miles away on flat land and I have seen it beep over 1.5 miles away on roads with hills up and down. It is simply amazing. If you buy one buy a good one and be done with it. By the way Escort also sells a lazer shifter to combat the lazar gun radar. We dont have lazar in this immediate area, so no worries for me. I'm positive that to anyone under 25 this is going to sound so lame, but it is true. I found the perfect way to avoid speeding tickets years ago. I'll share it with everyone here: I just drive at or below (Weather conditions dictating) the posted speed limit! Works like a charm. I have a stress-free trip, not scanning the road for possible speed traps and hiding spots. My license has been clean for many years now.
Let me share this one tip with you: You don't save that much time at all by speeding. There. I said it, and in my great youth I'd have considered this statement just the stupid sort of propaganda that the old fogies think the young are dumb enough to swallow, but I have found in my life it is true.

I am a paramedic. My partner and I swap off driving and attending on alternate days, and I've been at this career for 23 years. We are permitted to exceed posted speed limits and to bypass traffic controls while travelling with the emergency lights and siren activated. I have considerable experience in travelling the same roads both at legal posted speed limits and at a speed considerably faster and believe me, there isn't much difference at all until the total distance travelled is greater than fifty miles, and at that, if you are going the speeds that we often do, the risk of being cited becomes a virtual certainty.
A local ski hill that is 78 kilometers away is a frequent run, and given the winding highway and hills, and the fact that regardless our freedom to exceed the posted limit we still drive in a safe and prudent manner, the time saved over this run by travelling 'code three' is about five minutes. Whoopee.
If you're transporting an imminent breech birth then it's worth it, but otherwise what's the point?
I've seen a lot of badly injured and dead people that must have been looking for that saved five minutes.
Don't be one, please. I don't want that sort of job security.
