Best quad for inexperienced wife??
I am looking at getting a 2nd quad for my wife. It will be used for light/med trail riding. We will probably double up with our children on the back when we ride.
Was looking at the Ozark, but have read some posts regarding frame problems. What should I consider/
Thanks
Doug

Well, my GF learned to drive my 400 with no problems, though I wouldn't recommend it for a trail quad. In the Honda lineup, if you can get a 350 Rancher and install the 424 Warn kit it would probably meet your needs quite well. 4x4 will never be something you won't need, IMO. It makes tough trails easier to get over, you can pick your way along without having to use too much throttle to get through mud, over rocks etc. The only drawback to fulltime 4wd is harder steering on hard ground, and lower fuel economy. It's nice to know it's available when you need it.

Best quad for inexperienced wife??
I bought our daughters a 02 Rancher 4X4 ES. That was two years ago, today I would buy them a Rancher AT because of the transmission. They are a good size, easy to handle and comfortable. I liked the 02 Rancher because it was in 4-wd all the time, making it less likely they would get caught in a bad spot and have problems. I liked the size, I like the brakes (park brake will never bleed off) and 4-wheel engine braking is very important to me trail riding in the Rocky Mountains, and I think they are an all around good ATV.

Snug, stay away from anything that is not fourwheel drive. The trails that we run up here have alot of mudholes and deep water crossings and steep hills you will find out. I know somebody will say that 2x4 can go anywhere that a 4x4 can go and that maybe correct for the trails in the lower 48 but that will not be the case up here. When you see guys with Raptors and z250's and they are headed for Jim Creek to play in the sand and it gets to be boring riding that area very quickly. When it rains and the hills turn real slick and you don't have the extra set of wheels pulling you will not be haveing a good time. I am still on the look out for you for a King Quad or similar as you have the right idea in mind. My wife rides a Timberwolf and she gets around great on it, even loaded down with gear and it is only a 250. AlaskaBoy.
