I think the Ford uses a timer somewhere in the system to turn the plugs off after they heat up. My guess is the timer or controller isn't working right, which means the plugs were receiving power the whole time the key was on. They won't stand that for long, and will burn out. Also check the glow plug fuse, it may only be the fuse.

Is yours a 12 or 24 volt system? I know some of the older trucks used a 12 volt system to run everything but the starting system, and the starter used 2 12 volt batteries in series. Is there any chance they may have sent you the wrong glow plugs?

It sounds like whatever caused them to burn out the first time is still there. I take it the fuse is OK?

Default Diesel HELP- ANY Diesel Guro

i had one a few years ago doing the same thing but can't remember what i did. it was something going on in the precombustion chamber? i'll try to remember and i'll talk to friend thats a diesel mech to se if he can jare my memory. sorry i can't answer it right off the top of my head. might also try some of the diesel forums on other web sites. ford powerstroke owners have a pretty good web site for that type of question.
