Wisconsin Questionnaire
#1
I received something in the mail yesterday from Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources or something. They must have gotten my name and address form my ATV registration. It stated that a questionnaire would be sent to me soon concerning my ATV gas use during the month of July. Has anybody else received anything like this? Does it have something to do with the gas prices or is this a 2-stroke pollution thing?

Here in Pennsylvania, when you renew a boat registration, you are asked for an estimate of gas used. I think it has something to do with getting recreation tax money from the government. Don't know what they are up to in Wisconsin, but wouldn't it be something if the state could use some of the road taxes that were paid with the gas to make or improve some trails? Probably wishful thinking, but who knows?

I took a better look at the letter and it does say that the tax money does go to trail systems. The letter also said I was scientifically chosen, whatever that means. It's nice to see something positive coming from the government FOR atving.

Like most questions of this sort, it is to your benifit to lie. The question is how much and in what direction.
On the one hand, over estimating gets more trail money, On the other, what buisness is it of the goverment how much riding you do?
On the third hand going to high will get the enviro-**** up in arms over ATVs.

I think they just want to get an idea on the average gasoline ATV's use. From this number, they can figure out how much tax money should be allowed to be used in building and maintaining trail systems. Wisconsin does have some pretty good trail systems and I am happy that I have public places to ride.
