Trailer to tilt or not to tilt?
#1
I'm in the process of rebuilding a trailer that started life as a 6' x 8' tilt bed. I intended to just replace the deck and sale it for a profit. I tore the old deck off and found that the frame was cracked in about a dozen places and the tongue was bent. I took a chop saw to it and was able to salvage the fenders, axle and springs. A neighbor donated a bunch of 3'' angle and some channel. I welded a frame that is 6' x 10' and now I'm debating on whether to make a solid trailer with a rear ramp or a tilt trailer. I like the convenience of a tilt bed but I'm not sure of it's long term durability. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a 7'x10' no tilt, 1"x1" steel tube rails, with tailgate ramp. Front rail is as high as the tailgate when up (5') so I can put a boat or a cover over the top and still have the quad and all the gear on the deck below. I prefer using the trailer to loading the quad in the truck.

Greetings,
If the trailer is 10' long, you may want to use it for two quads at a time. This can pretty tough to do with a tilt bed. Unless you have a good locking mechanism, the first quad pushes the bed down and keeps it down, preventing the second from driving on.
