School project 2 - Why do you ride ATV's
#1
Hi, I’m a sophomore college student at the University of Michigan. I am taking a summer school marketing course in branding. The main grade in the class is a branding project.
I have already posted in the Honda forum, but I thought I would also post questions here. I do not have an ATV, but one of my group members does. And as I mentioned in the other post, I think I will become hooked by the time this project is over.
Why do you ride ATV’s? I have already learned in the Honda post that there are three main categories for ATV's: sport, utility, and the mini's. But I am wondering what originally attracted you to ATV’s. Is it adventure, work, hunting, all three?
Thank you.

I think most people who own an atv own it for one of three reasons: the thrill of riding(sport riders), the trhill of adventure and going into new places(sport quads or utility, or anything in between), and those who work(utility riders). Some of us use our quads for multiple reasons, but it is one these that seems to typically lead us to the actual purchase of a quad. I bought my eiger to explore and have fun. I do however use it to work. I didn't buy it to work, I bought it to play, but it is sometimes used for work. I would therefore put myself into category2. Don't know if this makes any sense or if it will help you in any way.

Sanity, a brake away from the wife and kids, and to see how much abuse I can put my body through before I see the bright light.
I see your from Taylortucky, how's that weather ? I am originally from Inkster.

I would say that I ride for adventure, fun, and family. It is something that my wife, kids, and I all enjoy doing. We have a blast together. I guess it is also a little of what was stated above also. I like to see what I can do before I see that light. When I am riding by myself or with my friends, it is all out hardcore playtime.

Riding does allow me to spend quality time with my family, and appeals to my sense of adventure, but it’s definitely a sanity saver.
I don’t know about anyone else, but when I’m riding, my mind is totally clear of any other thoughts, fears or worries that accompany everyday life. I’m not thinking about the mortgage, if my job is secure, or if I can afford braces for the kids. For that time, my mind is free. The only thing I am thinking about is what’s around the next corner, or on the other side of that dune. During that time, nothing else matters. I have yet to find any other activity, legal or not, that enables you to so easily forget all of your worries, if only for a short time.

I ride because its fun and its relaxing.Stress releaf, like a get away from the ratrace.Just you and your quad no limits. Not to mention its great exercise.
Also I like the learning part.Like finding new ways to jump better ways to get around a turn quicker etc.
I have rode dirtbikes and atv's since I was 6 years old and will ride till I die.

Ditto on what Raptorchick said..
Love of the outdoors, a great family activity, easier to get to your hunting spot on a quad than on foot
Got into the sport because of being raised with two brothers who rode dirt bikes all through growing up. I rode four legs (horses), but don't have anyplace to put one anymore.

I have two sisters, ones 18 the other one is turning 11 on jume the first. I bought my ATV to get the h*ll away from them for awhile (lol)
and as a stress reliever cause have an older and younger sister is hard work I have found that when they team up on me I am always wrong (lol) so I ride to get rid of alot of stress just get out in the open and let her rip. It feels real good it can really calm a person down.
