Default OT: Hows your job?

Quad4Fun, I am very glad to hear you have a job that suits your life situations...thats very cool.
It really sucks that people have to work endlessly for so many years just to live. Things shouldn't be that difficult..

Ya got a point there, pimp250r. Things SHOULD be more affordable. But then, if you've got money, they ARE affordable. If you've got NO money, you can't afford anything. So you have to get a job that PAYS more money. Sometimes that means going back to school, or even paying attention when you were IN school. No matter what, working is the way a capitalist society works. Otherwise you have what they have in Europe, which is socialism, and that sucks. Trust me, I'm tired of working too, and I'm only 58. You may say "58! You're an old sucker!" But when YOU reach 58 I can guarantee you won't think YOU'RE old. It's those old suckers at 65-70 that are old - ha.

Too many kids are having kids (like before they're even out of HS) and that's when you're REALLY locked up. You're looking at 18 years minimum of child support, or if you're lucky enough to actually have a good marriage, even more than 18 years, cuz little Bosco (or Boscoette) is going to need stuff forever. Maybe even some help paying for college.

Life is a crap shoot, no matter what, but I still say that the difference between "Good Luck" and "Bad Luck" is generally good judgement and bad judgement. Simple as that. Every decision you make will have an effect on your life. Some more than others.

Gee, the original topic was "How's your job?" Well, I've been in the trucking industry for just a hair under 30 years now, and I still LOVE IT! Some days it's not so good, but overall, I simply LOVE IT. And the decision that got me here was taken so "matter of factly" at the time, it's scary to think of it. I can pick out 4-5 life changing decisions I've made, and at the time they were being made, they meant nothing. Didn't even give it a moments thought. Now when I think back, it's scary as hell!

Uh, time to get out. Sorry for the rambling. I think I'll go have a martini...

Oh, and pimp250r, in using the word "You", I don't really mean YOU per se. I mean everyone in general.

I'll start ducking tomatoes now.

Ya gotta love your job, or it's no fun. Unfortunately, if you don't like it, it's pretty hard these days to find something else. That's a bummer. I feel very fortunate, an lucky to have what I have

I remember a few months ago I was venting my frustrations about my job on this board...I'm glad to say that things have gotten a lot better. Which is to say a million times better. I've been promoted, I got a huge raise and things are going pretty well. I don't think I would have made it through the tough times without this board though. I would have gone crazy! So thanks ATVConnection!

My job is cool, it just sucks that it a 45 mile commute one-way. Guess its my own fault for wanting a lifted 4x4 gas hog
