I am looking to start a new ATV dealership in the Indiana/Michigan area and would like some insight from fellow members. I currently sell Max amphibious 6x6 ATVs and will be picking up the Argo line also. With the new dealership I plan to sell quads, probably starting with Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Arctic Cat. I would certainly not pass up Polaris and Honda, but I understand these two companies have an extensive floor plan and would be overkill for a new dealership. I would like to hear from those with experience in starting or even running an ATV dealership. What can I expect from Yamaha with setting up shop? I will be real estate shopping next month and talking with these companies. Any tips and tricks from those who have gone down this road would be much appreciated. I run a dealership in Colorado. Floor space is important, but the biggest selling point I have found is some open space to test ride them. I have a field next door that I can use. A couple of bank turns and whoop-de-doos makes the customers come in smiling and waving their wallets.
