Granted sompin like 14 tickets outts 600 times pulled over aint a terrible ratio
You must of done some swweeetttt talkingBut, you got the right approach, when you do get pulled over It was in todays paper, the Ca. Vehicle Code has gone from it's original 30 pages to over 1600 pages in 75 yearsImagine all the laws, we just don't know about that we could use Just way to much legislationAnd The CHP is down 2500 positions, we are down 28 positions, etc, etc. But, thats another story. Later. Lt. Dan

rescuediver,
I respect what you do too. I was very close to becoming a Los Angeles County Sheriff some 13-years ago. I passed all the oral and written exams, the physical and medical review, background checks, psychological testing, etc... All I had left before entering the academy was the polygraph and some other miscellaneous stuff which shouldn't have been a problem since I had nothing to hide. My grandfather and great-grandfather were both on the force and I would have been next in line but a near fatal off-road accident changed things for me. It's all good though, I believe it just wasn't meant to be for me. Just thought you might be interested...sorry to get so off topic.

Default The truth about taxes

The 80s boom was started because Carter was the last President to actually have an officially balanced budget
please. The carter admin was the worst presidency in our history. If the consesus here is that the president is reponsible for the econmony, then lets take a walk down memory lane. Remember the high inflation, the high interest rates, long lines at the gas pump, rations and unfairly high income taxes?

This all happened during carter's watch. AND he GAVE away OUR canal- the panama canal. We bought it from France - we had every legal right to have it - i have seen the papers on it. He just gives it away! The greatest shipping asset route in the world (ships still carry ALOT of cargo to and from the USA through it). and the guy had no spine. he weakened our military. he wanted to negotiate with terrorists to get our boys back from the mideast to no avail. Reagan gto in office, introduced reaganomics, slashed taxes, interests rates fell, inlfation fell, pride was restored to the millitary and he refused to negotiate with terrists and got our boys back home. The 80s economy was a direct result of what Reagan did, not what carter did. Arguably, even the most recent boom in the 90-00's was a result of what reagan did. Now i dont have all day and enough room here to explain but every economic cycles have growth, slowdowns and recessions.

Reagan rebuilt the military - he had no choice and, yes, it caused deficits. But when you have the soviet leaders saying they will bury the USA, building thousands of warheads every year nothing else could have been done. He did it to protect us just like Bush is trying to do. Reagan restored pride to america and made the USA a superpower that stands to this day.

and carter set it all up? bullcrap.

You go, twenty!

Federal receipts to the treasury (taxes paid in) 1980---------515 billion $

Federal receipts to the treasury 1988---------950 billion $

Reagan's tax cuts inspired economic growth which made more income for the government. Libs are loathe to admit it too. That's why they hate Reagan so much, because he happily proved their dimwitted economic theory wrong. Too bad the democratically controlled congress in those years outspent the revenue increase like drunken, well, democrats.

NEW QUADS this crappy economy is somehow affording us to buy new rides, If i pull over on the side of the road or sit at a traffic signal., what do i see? A TON OF NEW CARS AND BIG FRIGGIN TRUCKS those aint cheap. so either the american people are spending WAAAAAY beyond their means or ya'll got jobs and make some money and buy what you want. could stuff be better, of course i would love to make the salary of SHAQ or some other pro athlete. That just wasnt in gods plan for me. I just dont notice the economy doin so bad. maybe someone can inform me why i should feel bad for the unemployed? yeah it sucks they lost their job. but always another one around the corner. people who dont work, do so becuase they dont want to work. Oh and We need this national salestax dream to go thru and get rid of income tax. give people their money and they will spend it.

Well Lt. Dan,
I spend a lil time on the road. 100 miles between my condo and house on the ranch. so i sit in seattles crappy traffic and see allotta cars. work to my condo is only 30 minutes but being around microsoft land i could have a distorted perspective with all the dam yuppies. i dont notice to many starbucks hurtin either. I cant personally afford 2 or 3 $5 cups of coffee everyday. i dunno how these people do it. My step granny is a lil wierd and always sayin how terrible the ecomy is. and i was commin back from lunch with her and i was like we're gonna do a survey. so i pulled over and i was like lets count the cars on the road older than over 5 yrs old. we sat there for 15 minutes and counted 25 cars older than a 99 and hundreds went by and you know who was driving the older cars? looked like highschool kids to me in all of em. Most people who enter the working world and become established generally reward themselves with a new car. I personally took the tax hit buyin a new truck. its paid for now and i will drive it till the wheels fall off and put new ones on it More monies for the quads. well I gonna have a new saddle made for my horse too. I spend way to much money. but I must be able to afford it. oh CUZ I HAVE A JOB.

Same here, In the great central valley of California, we have more full size trucks(mostly ford powerstrokes) on the road, SUV of every size, upper luxury vans and the occasional beater upper car that the southside drives around. I agree with everything you are saying. I really don'y think, we as a whole, are hurting like the media is whining. They just want their man in doing the job, that he does not have the fortitude to do. He is to wishy washy and can't take a stance and hold itI like what the current commander in chief is doing over-all Ever since 9-11, we had to change our attitude. Tired of people whining about their freedom being taken away. It's not, it is just more controlling at certain areas. Where I believe it needs to be. I see the everyday threat level and warnings that go out. The average person can't fathom the amount of information that is put out on a everyday basis. It's sad, but my kids 14,12 and 8 understand whats going on in the world, they also understand why President Bush is doing what he's doing. The bottom line is, they feel safe with him. We actually have discussion about it at the dinner table.
