Default Eye Protection - other than standard Goggles

I'm looking for something kind of like a cross between a pair of goggles and a pair of shades. Something that fits around (or in) your helmet, but confroms to your face to keep sand, dirt, etc out. And no, Speedo goggles are out of the question! Any ideas on some good eye protection that is better than shades, but not as large as regular riding goggles?

Have you looked at Oakleys or Gargoyle sunglasses? They wrap around the face and are pretty close to the face, to help keep wind and debri out of your eyes. Or, do you want something that seals around your eyes too?

Dinger showed me a pair of goggle/shades that were military issue (i think) that fit snug to the eye (padding) but looked like shades.

They are what they are using in Afganistan/Iraq to combat the sand storms.

I tried them on,,,,they were pretty sweet.

Look at any motorcycle shop for riging glasses. Interchangeable, usually. You get a clear, and amber, and a dark set of lenses to swap in.

About $15 for the cheapies, $115 for the rediculously expensive.

I had a pair of the Gargoyles that just wrapped around my face, not the snug type. They did a great job of deflecting wind away from your eyesand they are suppose to withstand an impact from a .22 round.

Dam! A .22 round. Was that at point blank, or out at a specified distance? I remember when the Oakleys first started coming out. They had a pair at the local sporting goods store that had been shot at 30 yards with 3'' mag #6's 12 guage. No bb's penetrated the lens.

Dumass, Here's a blurb for you; Gargoyles sunglasses provide some of the best protection available for your eyes without sacrificing style. Their lenses are 50 times stronger than safety glass and 20 times stronger than structural aluminium. The Gargoyles sunglasses pictured at left withstood the impact of a .22 caliber bullet from just 10 feet away. Thanks to a NASA developed coating, they are also scratch and fog resistant. Gargoyles patented Dual Lens Toric Curve with its zero-prism design corrects for normal distortion encoutered with many sunglasses, so that the image you receive is always accurate and clear.
