Thats the bad thing about being the first in the family to get a quad. They use it, ruin it, and make you pay. About the only way I know of keeping anything from rusting in salt water is to make it out of stainless steel, preferably 304ss.

You can probubly follow YamahaBlaster200' advice and sand blast existing part's and paint with a good spray paint, then stay out of salt water.
