Buddy Rich was on the Muppet show and had a drum battle with Animal. A great all-time showdown!!

Dave Weckl, Terry Bozzio (met him at drum clinic), Tomas Haake (Meshuggah...not your typical metal band. Polyrhythmic, mind twisting sh*t.) Carter Beauford, Thomas Lang, Keith Moon, and Neil Peart are the ones I can think of right now. Oh yeah, Morgan Agren from Mats/Morgan band. This guy is a drummer's dream.

I know just enough to know there are a lot of really good players out there we'll never hear from due to the nature of the music business.
Exactly.

Okay, Neil Peart is one of the greatest. We've accomplished that. But you forgot about Danny from Tool, the drummer for DreamTheatre, and Chad from RHCP.

Yeah,Dream Theaters' Mike Portnoy!! Youngest drummer since Peart to make hall of fame status
Dream Theater is one of my favorite bands and I saw Portnoy at a clinic-WOW!

Portnoy is about the only younger guy I can think of that gets a vote from me. He's real good and anyone who can keep up with that Dream Theater odd count stuff at least wins the techno award. I think he pays for that accomplishment in the somewhat mechanical sound and slight lacking in feel and fluidity but maybe that's just my ears. I do really like them though, very impressive and Falling into Infinity is a masterpiece of an album.
