Sounds like you have an internal seal leaking, either in the lift cyllinder or in the valve. Its not an uncommon problem, most hydraulics will creep down over time. Unless its gets really bad , or begins leaking externallly I wouldnt lose any sleep over it.. Worse case scenerio you would have to pull the cylinder or valve apart and replace the seals, probably under $50 for seals...... could be more if the cylinder walls on the ram are scored, but thats very rare.

Could be Something in your Hyd, Manifold Not leting a Valve Close all the way.or like he said could be a internal leak. Might need to Re O-Ring your Spools.

That is normal for it to settle a little, if it becomes a lot i would check out the seals.

Default hydralics..question

is this a dificult task? where would i find the right nuts to take off is it under the seat or by the PTO in the rear? is it a do it your self, i don't know if i want to mess with a lot of little parts, but it does creep down slowly i noticed it, it seemed like before i shut it off its all the way up and by the end of the next day it was pretty much down all the way or about 3 more inches, would this all be located in the owners manual? and i think we bought the tractor in 98, no prior hydralic fluid changes or hydro static tranny fluid changes either, just coolant flushes and oil changes, is it nessassary to flush out the old hydralic fluid and put in new stuff? same with tranny?

the tractor runs great its a diesel, the under carage where the lawn mower hooks up to really seems loose, maybe its all broken in and i never tightened the stuff up,

thanks...

i don't think the hydralic filter needs to be changed, we changed it right away when we got it after like 3 hours of use to get the factory stuff out, but besides that its a sealed system, and its not like the system goes does in 30 minutes, it goes down over a period of like 3 or 4 days, but its not affecting us that bad, i was just wondering if it could be avoided and or if its an easy task to fix???

any reccomendations for the type of engine oil to use, its a 3 cylinder water cooled diesel engine, i was thinking synthetic, kubota has their own oil, but are there better options??? what kind do the big rigs use?

thanks

Don't worry about it. In fact, EVERY tractor on the place has a 3-point hitch that settles slowly over time, when something is hitched to it. Our 1973 IH 766 Farmall has been doing it since about 1980 or so, and it really hasn't gotten any worse yet. As long as it doesn't settle fast enough to actually see it go down, it is no big deal. The implement dealer told me it was usually a small leak in the internal control module, so the oil leaks back into the reservoir. No big deal, really, as long as no oil is dripping on the ground.
