I am exploring my options for quad insurance. Is it necessary to have insurance? What kind of insurance would I need, liability etc.? Should I get it through my regular agent or are there better cheaper options? How does my homeowners policy cover my quads from theft/damamge/loss?

Greetings,

Laws and coverages vary from state to state. Sometimes its covered under homeowners insurance if its garaged at home -- but not always. In my case, storing it at a second home, I needed a separate policy. Allstate turned out to be the best deal. I have heard of several people getting coverage from Progressive Insurance. Best thing to do is let your fingers do the walking and start collecting some info.

Thanks,

merril, i have insurance on my atv thru State Farm, seems very reasonable, less than $200.00 per year. wouldn't be caught without insurance, to many people looking for lawsuits nowdays, besides, mine got stolen last year, State Farm was great to work with and fair on their claim. By the way, my new atv is a SP500, insured for over $6,000.00 on policy, $200.00 seems pretty reasonable to me??

If any, are there any other benifits other than if your quad is stolen? I have never thought about insurance Till this post, I live in a rural area but who knows what can happen. I was just wondering what all is covered in the policy. Thanks....Herbert

Yes, get collision coverage with 250 deductable so when you roll it or whatever and damage it you can get it repaired for the deductible, just like your car/truck.

That and the theft issue are two of the main reasons I have insurance, lawsuit by irate landowners is another.

$159.00 a year through progressive, well worth it if I have to use it. Pray I don't.

mine with state farm has -bodily injury-property damage liability & 250 deductable, and uninsured motorist insurance for people who don't carry insurance. all it takes is one time for you to hit or hurt someone, weather they are riding with you or alone on yours-or have yours stolen, and you will feel a great sense of relief. i had my stolen last year along with 2 others at our hunting camp, i was the only one with insurance.
