Works ok on the low end for 26,000lb with a big rear. The big diesel motors don't have much more HP, but the torque numbers are 700-1000 lb/ft.
I know, but when you see a truck that BIG. I think BIG HP/Torque numbers too. Like 425hp and 1100lbs Torque.

Yes I am greedy, and I want a 10'-12' bed too.

actually they go up to about 2500 lb/ft torque in the c-16 cat. it has 600 horses and about like 2300 lb/ft or if your talking about fords diesels then your probably right

Those are the kind of numbers I'd expect in a truck that big.

A big, heavy truck is really what is needed when towing a heavy load. A 1 ton truck like the F350 may actually tow a very heavy load like a back-hoe or tractor, but if you have to stop quickly or if the trailer gets squirrelly you need the heavier truck to stop it. Of course, if you can afford a toy like the CXT, your wallet should give you all the extra weight you need.

Ford doesn't build diesel motors. They purchase them from Internation-Harvestor (yes, the same motor under the CXT hood is under the hood of Ford F-250 through F-650 with the Powerstroke...just the Ford's are tweaked differently.)

Dodge's is a customized Cummins ISB.

GM is about the only one you could almost say is built "in-house" as they own part of Isuzu who makes the Duramax.

That's the kind of motor found in a Class 8 truck (Greater than 36,000lb GVWR). I.e. "big rig".

Actually CA law actually has limits on combined weights. Bascially the tow vehicle (either tractor (in a semi-tractor sense), truck, car, etc.) must be able to stop the combined vehicle from particular speeds in particular distances with the trailer's brake system inoperable (in case of a brake line rupture, disconnect, etc). Ford reportedly exceeds their tow ratings by 2000lb while doing this test. I'm sure most states (if not at a Federal level) have this same basic requirement.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!! Ford has never used the 466E in anything (the CXT engine). They used the 444E(powerstroke) and that new 6.0. Compairing the 2 is like night and day.

It "looks" like a big rig to me. Should have Big Rig numbers. That and a longer bed too.
