ATV TRAILERS

Before you stop considering a snowmobile trailer, consider these things:
1. It was the cheapest solution to move 2 fairly heavy quads.
2. Easy to load both myself
3. Light trailer.
I would have to agree with the width and the gas mileage issue, but you don't have to have a deflector shield on the front. (I prefer it to keep the road crap off the machines)
I just wanted to get the cheapest 'new' trailer I could find. And here in Toronto, that was it.
I have seen a standard trailer work if two strong guys are there. You put the first quad in and put the front wheels over the front of the trailer. Then the other quad will just fit behind it. Saw it with a 300EX and a Banshee.
One more thing to consider. Buy a new one just for the bearings and axel. Nothing will ruin a weekend faster than a smoked bearing. I have seen a fully greased bearing sieze up tight. It isn't the greasing which matters, it is the parts wear.
I bought a new trailer over a used one for that reason alone. I didn't want to be on the side of the road while I could be riding.
Good Luck

I just bought a new 6&1/2 X 12 trailer in N.E. Texas for $400 with a trade-in 5 X 10. The new trailer has a spring assisted 4ft. loading gate and a treated wood floor. I can load three full size quads on the trailer. I usually carry my Polaris Expedition and Sport 400 and either a Sportsman 500 or QuadMaster. Where I live we have 3 companies that sell all over US and 12-15 small shops that sell local. I know at least on of them has a website. Try BigTex Trailers

I picked up a 6 1/2' x 12 ' trailer in a trade recently . The trailer has a beaver tail ramp-gate on the rear with 1 foot high sides and 15 inch rims . It was a little tough loading quads sideways ( If hauling more than one at a time )as I would have to lift one end of the machine over the side rail to turn the quad sideways . I solved the problem by taking my trailer to the local High school where the welding teacher cut out 6' feet of the side rail on the right side of the trailer and fashioned another ramp that is made from expanded metal and angle iron . This ramp is hinged and pinned in place just like the rear ramp . Now instead of lifting the quad I simply drive up the side of the trailer . The side ramp cost me less than $50.00 .
My trailer pulls great and is light enough to move with a fourwheeler .I live in Utah and several of the school welding classes here make some great trailers using professionally drawn plans and usually the only cost is for the materials used . Might be worth a try in your area , GOOD LUCK .
