Okay, coming in late here, but here is my poinion on this. A guy I know used to be in the B.P. and has caught MANY a Mexican trying to jump the fence into this beautiful country of ours. It annoys me how easy it is for them to take advantage of us like this and people don't even realize that it happens hundreds of times a night. I also have a HUGE problem with them translating our national anthem into Spanish!! What the crap!?!?! It was written in English, our naional language is ENGLISH and our founding fathers were, you guessed it, ENGLISH!! It wasn't Juan Franklin or Tito Washington that fought to keep our country free! There is no excuse for Mexicans thinking that they are BETTER than any other race of people in our country. Why don't the Indians stage a protest about how we stole their land from them? Why don't INDIANS get special rights?? They were here first! Why don't immigrants from Ireland and Italy or Poland stage protests about how we should welcome illegal immigrants from their countries Why don't we put the AMERICAN national antem into German, Russian, or Chinese?? They have No right to tie up traffic and people (Mexican and others alike) from trying to be good citizens and do their jobs and be productive members of our American society. If they don't... ya know what, just forget it....

My problem isn't with Immigrants or Immigration in general, it's with "ILLEGAL Immigrants and ILLEAGAL Immigration!!!" There is a difference.

I don't have a problem with that as long as they come her LEGALY and show some level of Respect for their new country.

That can be controlled better by way of a B.F.W. (You figure it out.). So what you are saying is that 76% of English speaking Americans should have to learn to speak Spanish, instead of 24% of Hispanic's learning to speak English? Boy it's hard to argue with that kind of logic. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] Why not have them learn how to speak English? Wouldn't that be usefull for them too?

Can't argue with you on that one, doesn't make it right though.

Or just maybe it is one of those "Serious matters" and needs to be delt with.

You know I hear this same argument about evey pork belly entitlement or rediculas waist of taxpayers dollars. Add all these Little "Chump Change" amounts up and you got A LOT. As their numbers increase, so does the cost to the tax payer. Eventually, it will stop being "negligible" and will become Epidemic. Why is Patriotism racist? What is wrong with a country wanting to have control of its borders? Why does Mexico have such stiff immigration laws? Why aren't Mexicans protesting the misserable conditions in their own country instead of protesting in ours?

This may be, but it can certainly be curtailed. At the rate that we are being invaded, every little bit helps.

 

I was referring to Spanish being a useful language in those locales where Hispanic heritage is or becomes the majority population, not a mandatory learning process. Even the standing US president, despite his recent statement, sang the national anthem in Spanish when campaigning in those areas. Canada, countries in Europe and Asia have no problem with multi-language cultures, which is the reason I point out futile US resistance to inevitable change including redistribution of labor forces; immigration. Like so many past issues, immigration occupies the general public until the next refocus.

 

George you ever heard the saying. "When in rome, Do as the romans do?" Well when in america do as americans do.. Thats speak english my friend. I wouldnt move to mexico and think i didnt need to become fluent in spanish.. I wouldn't move to germany and think i didnt need to be fluent in german. Wouldn't move to China and not learn chinese.. They are leaving mexico why? Because they feel america is a better place of oppertunity.. Well when you make the choice to Illegally or legally come to this country for the long haul you best learn english or people like me will do our best to make things very complicated. I could not work in a public service position like a grocery store.. Sorry you need to speak my language. Its so bad our local stores have to hire spanish speaking people to help them. Personally I just wouldnt help. Id give them the wrong thing and make it really frustrating so they do something about it.

 

It the first 50 yards the the border was a big mine field, then that would fix alot of the problem. Just put a fence before and after the mine field, with signs that say "beware of mines". Anyone that would be stupid enough to climb the fence and enter in the mine field...well I'll stop at that.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11,
we have experienced a surge
in patriotism by the majority
of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America.
Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants.
However, there
are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans...... we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.


We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles.............
founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because
God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where
you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the
right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so!
But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping....... about our flag.......
our pledge...... our national motto........or our way of life....I highly encourage you to
take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......
