What would be the best all around premix oil to run. I was told that Bel-Ray MC-1 can really be hard on things. How about Yamalube or Honda HP2? Any thoughts?

That is typical of Klotz products, especially when you run the richer mixtures. Klotz will typically give you a slight edge in performance but at the cost of faster engine wear and carbon buildup. I'm not saying this to run Klotz down because I am sponsored by them and like their products but then again I go through my motors every three races(approximately 8-9 hours riding) so the positives outweigh the negatives for me. The best oil I have every found for a ride it and forget type application is Bel-Ray MC-1. Then again I have not tried everything available.

I have been running Klotz R-50 for about a year. Today I pulled the cylinder off and there is a lot of carbon and some scuff marks. Does anyone know if this is common for R-50? What type do you all reccomend?

I was wondering how you can say that The klotz oils give you increased wear. Another thing i am wondering. does the Klotz R-50 have castor bean oil. I know that it is a tecniplate but what does that mean.

Take a bore micrometer a measue the cylinder and then maintain this information over a period of time(usually 8-10 rebuilds) Do this with different oils and it is no hard to see the wear rates and amount of wear being allowed with your oil. Also. mic the rings right at the exhaust ports. This is a quick and easy way of doing it. Typically it is a lot easier to see on a built engine.

I think, since a two-stroke burns clean oil all the time, it doesn't matter what brand of oil you use. Freinds of mine, including myself, used the cheapest pre-mix oil money could buy and our engines last much more than a year. I think its all propaganda, but that just my opinion.

I'm almost to the point of aggreeing with you JJFAT. What kind of oil do you use? I here so many different opinions on this subject. Some wouldn't give two cents for a certain brand and the other would swear by it.

Yes, different opinions are what makes our global economy rise. Anyways, I used from Havoline to cheap gasoline station oil all the way to Klots, and believe me it makes no difference. Keep in mind that you should tear your engine down for an overhaul once a season so who cares what oils you use, unless, your sponsored.
