Well, it sounds like eeryone but me and my cousin has had good luck with the Superwinch. I'll tell you our experiences with them. we both immediatly took off the 25' cable and put 50' cables on ours. the it was off to testing them. i bought the winch less than 2 years ago, and had to replace 6 switches on mine. the winch worked great, just the switches will burn out on you. My cousin had the same problem, but not as many switches, he only lost 4. Unless they have made progress with the switches, i'd say stay away from Super winch.I ended up sending my winch back to Cabelas and upgrading to a Warn 2000Lb winch before the warranty expired. my cousin just lost his last switch about 2 months ago. no more warranty left on it, i went to a local ATV Parts house, and bought a Warn switch for it, and it has worked great since then. i wouldnt go with Superwinch personally because of the poor quality of switches, but however that is just my opinion.

it was my understanding that they have changed the inner workings of the switch. also, my switch looks slightly different than my friends older one.

though this isn't a hard fact, i just think i remember hearing this somewhere...

anyone know about this forsure?

p.s. had problems submitting replies, my replies came back and said error, though actually the were submitted twice.. go figure.

In my opionon, I hate the superwinch. Ive had them on my reco and now on my wolverine. Iv'e got it replaced once on my wolve and twice on my recon.the magnets alway break and water get in to it, and in the winter it freezes. I did put silicone on the egdes and that seem to do it. It still feels under power. If i had the mony i would buy a warn.

I debated when choosing a winch but decided on the Rule. It was a little pricey but has been worth it. With the help of my custom brush guard, I was able to pull myself backwards out of a swamp last week. You'd have to see how the brush guard is built. I have 2 Leads which makes the cable centered no matter what angle I am pulling.

The ratings on the winches are on the first layer of cable. As you spool in cable and the more layers there are the lower the pulling capacity and the higher the amprage the winch pulls. So if you put 50 feet of cable on make sure you spool out as much cable as possible.A ****** block would double the amount of cable needed for short pulls and the winch will not work as hard. The trouble with the swtiches is that they are pulling at max amprage too long.
