I tried this plastic welding kit on my rear fender after I popped about a 10 inch crack in it the very first day I took it out. It was a long enough crack that the fender was flopping. With my lack of expertise in these matters..I was left with an ugly scar but I got 3 more years out the fender before my little brother mildewed on it and recracked the weld. I'm gonna try it again. I expect the plastic will be more brittle after 2 meltdowns but if it holds for 3 more years, I'll be happy....I used my own soldering iron and only purchased their clear plastic welding sticks. The color blended back very close to the original red but had no gloss of course. You can get a kit from http://urethanesupply.com/atv.htm

follow up....I went back and bought their heating element (welding iron). It has a flat & wider surface with a hole to feed the plastic rods through...a lot like a hot glue gun. This worked much better than my soldering iron. I was able to smooth out the scarring some, but did burn a little of the plastic black leaving black specs in the fender along the weld. Compared to the cost of new plastic...I'm very sastisfied with my home repair job.
