How many still ride without a helmet?

but when "racing" or practicing on an mx track, i think good suspension is more important than a helmet- if you have some skill and the only thing limiting you is your quad- then you are better off with $2000 suspension than a $500 helmet

(I know this is old but anyways) I usually do such as when I'm racing around the track w/ my dad, the dunes, trails, and jumping levees or doing wheelies; I think they look good too. I've been riding for more than half my life but never got my helmet 'til 2 years ago.

It is law here in California to wear a helmet, can be a big fine if caught not wearing one. thats ok though I always wear mine. if your helmet does not fit right it does no good. one could be killed so easy while riding and yes like what was said before, I want to live to ride another day! I also agree wearing all the gear (every time ) is cool, it shows your smart!

I know that a million reasons have been given for helmet use and you still have some supermen and women that refuse to see the obvious and that is "They are necessary". The three worst accidents I have witnessed in my 25 years of riding atc's and atv's in which a helemt would have prevented injury were SLOW SPEED accidents! Two of the three were relatively smooth ground.
I will go on to add that I do not beleive that anyone with a family has a right to increase the chance of their family having to go through suffering, loss and heartbreak or possibly force their child to grow up without a mom or dad because of a stupid decision to not wear a helmet. You have GOT to think about the grief it would cause them. Furthermore, I have a silly little saying that I say once in a while the says "your getting hurt without a helmet causes me to lose my riding area". Folks the anti atv crowd manages to close a riding area somewhere on almost a weekly basis. And they get alot of their "ammunition" to close our riding areas from injury statistics. They don't give a rats hind end if we were going slow or fast, public or private land, flat or hilly. They WILL use your injury to lobby for more anti atv legislation. They do it and win all the time.

i really dont think anything could go wrong when im riding a under 10mph wheelie for only 20-30 feet. Maybe if you're feeling suicidal or are a beginner.
So what does it mean that the majority of accidents are at low speed? under 30mph? on my own quad i just about always wear a helmet (if i think i might find some small jumps or trails somewhere) but on my dad's Eiger 400 auto i only cruise through our fields/pasture so i dont feel i need to wear one. I havent had a situation yet that made me scared while i wasnt wearing a helmet. With a helmet i have been scared because a helmet doesnt protect your entire body when you are dodging trees at speeds fast enough to put you over the bars.
