Loosing places to ride.

While we are loosing places to ride why are the atv companies not doing anything to help? Shouldnt they all rally together and promote the sport and try to get it to grow? Instead we keep loosing places to ride. I know they are a lot of bad apples responsible for this but why cant we come to some kind of agreement on this? I belive most people would gladly pay for some kind of use permit or mabe an atv liscence in return having more places to ride. The money from this can go to trail maintanance and patroling to keep down littering and land damaging riding practices. Mebe im just getting alittle too worried about all this but I just want there to be places for my kids to ride in the future.

ozarkhunter, some manufacturers are helping out. I know Polaris has contributed $$ to trail funds and what not. I would not be surprised to hear that most or all of the others have too. The best way you can be proactive is to join and support a local club, then maybe put a bug in your legislators ear from time to time. Personally, I think we will continue to loose riding sites, especially those with questionable legality. On the flip side, I am always reading about new riding parks in the industry rags. Places like the Hatfield/McCoy trail system seem to be flourishing. It is only a matter of time before places like New York State start to see the $$ signs they could be making if they started a trail system and grew some atv tourism.

several of our spots were lost due to bad apples leaving trash and riding crazy. statistically the #1 reason is NOISE. so for all those that like loud pipes and nowhere to ride, just look at it in you garage and imagine how good it sounds then.
i do think and have said it several times on here the OEMS should buy land donate it to clubs and promote safe riding and keep the cycle going: bike=profits=ridingspots=more bikes, etc. take out the riding spots, no one buys bikes then the profits sink. keep riding spots open and new ones bike sales are steady, new models come out, etc...you get the point. win win for everyone. happy happy joy joy.

well here in northern ontario canada we have snowmobile trails that are off limits to atv's in the summer . for no reason at all . we've tried to get atv clubs together just like snowmobile clubs . but so far no sucess.and the worst part of it all is that our winters are becoming shorter due to global warming and the trails havent even been open in my town for the past 2 years . and all the people who bought trail passes did not get a refund . so where is all that money going . they could at least use it to maintain the trails in the summer and charge us atvers for a trail pass because were not ganna loose summer like were loosing winter . the atv season is just getting longer . but for some reason still no atv club to maintain trails and sell trail passes . so ive been trespasing and riding in local abandoned gravel pits .
